Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
My computer guy came over and fixed my network problem, and ran the AVG virus protection. Now for the last two weeks, I keep getting this....

AVG Free Edition Resident Shield....
THREAT DETECTED!
While opening file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\hlplhon.dll
Trojan horse BackDoor.Agent.NRB
Ignore, Info, Heal, Move to Vault.

The last three choices do nothing:SIB As the AVG Free Control Center pops up a box saying; "Requested action is not available for this object. Access to the file has been denied"

My computer guy($90/hr:scared ) sent me this in an email, and told me to run it;
(A backdoor Trojan virus can be a problem by letting other virus's and malware get onto your system. Try running this to clean it.
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ if that doesn't work I will have to look at it.)

So I go to the website, try to run it, it doesn't work and this Error message comes up;
"Insufficient privileges detected for running Trend Micro HouseCall! To resolve this problem, accept any Trend Micro secuity certicate warnings and optionally run HouseCall with administrative rights(What?). Please close the HouseCall window and your browser and try again." :shrug:

So I tried enabling the Active X controls, switched from FireFox to IE(I got further with that but still wont run) Did some Java kernel thing:com: WTF?

Any idea on how to deal with this?

Thanks...

Franky

Click on Tools, Internet Options, go to advance and be sure third parties is enabled, you will need to re-boot.

This I assume is what you are talking about, Under The Browsing in Advanced, This was already turned on;

"Enable third-party browser extensions*" (what does the asterisk mean?)

I also just turned on the Microsoft VM ;

ON> Java console enabled (requires restart)
ON> Java logging enabled

Not sure what they are but I remember it was asking for this to be on?

Oh, this is what trend micro was stating too:
Important Notes about HouseCall 6.5
HouseCall 6.5 has two independent Core Engines to choose from:
The ActiveX Core Engine: to use this engine, please adjust here the IE browser?s Security level to Medium at least and be sure that signed ActiveX objects are enabled.
The Java VM Core Engine- to use this engine, please install the Java VM from www.java.com.

Thanks, that threat detected pop up is coming about every 1-5 seconds:com:

Follow the 4th post in this thread below. If that does not work let me know.

Thanks Shawn. But I do need your help :shrug: I tried going to safe mode, and I cant even get it to do that for fock sake:com:
I have agent's number and email, but somehow not yours? Tell Jack we are good to exchange, and I will give you a call so you can walk me thru it if you would. Appreciate it and hope all is good with you :)
