I was talking with my wife last night because she brought up Vick being convicted and I said I would like to see any similar convitions for what he's done. I wonder if it's around the same amount of time as what he's gotten.

Exactly my point. It's all humans, americans, christian's and regular folks' fault. I think a year would have been OK since he financed all that crap and certainly was directly involved in killing tha animals. But then I would keep a real good eye on him. If you have no problem killing hapless dogs, who knows what you could do to real people.

I just dont see the relationship between animals and humans being equal. I have 2 dogs and I love them w/ all my heart... but jsut can't see them being equal. I'm sure there is a verse in the bible about this... but to tell the truth.. I'm not that informative about it.

To me, an innocent life is an innocent life. I agree, the line becomes tough to draw, where does it stop? At a Grasshopper or Butterfly? Or somewhere way before that? My point is what Vick did deserved punishment! Just because some skank got off for capping her husband who beat her for years doesn't mean Vick shouldn't be in jail.

back to the thread; I'm not going to argue that it's ok to wantonly kill animals because it isn't. A human life is above the life of an animal. Why? Common sense, people have souls, and people can reason, animals can not (I know any use of the Bible as an argument with you is fruitless since you don't believe).

A man who kills a dog or treats one in some terrible inhumane fashion should be held accountable. However, if he does the same to another person, the penalty should be much stiffer. Noboby here is saying that it's ok to brutalize dogs.
