I'm looking for a TV upgrade, and I really don't want to pay out the ass for one.

I'm looking for a 42'' to 50'' plasma or LCD.

Has anyone purchased a TV on ebay?

I browsed for a little bit and saw good prices, but I couldn't find a warranty...

I have been using eBay for years, just make sure the seller has good feedback and a return policy. You will be fine. Don't just buy from some random donkey.

I've been using "craigslist" lately....and I've found some awesome deals from people in my area on TVs. Best thing.....you can go take a look at the thing before you buy it.

Exactly. I use Ebay quite often. We buy most of our computers, servers, projectors, etc. off of there and have no problems. Just be sure to buy from a reputable seller. We buy only new electronics. Nothing used in any way.

This is how I put it to my father-in-law. If you were walking down the street and there were three stores: Macy's, Rolex, and Joe's XXX Watches -- would you even consider buying from Joe?

Be smart and online shopping is better than in person.

On that note, a used TV is probably something I would not buy on ebay. :) Costco has them too cheap to make it worth it. And a used TV is probably a ticking time bomb.

We buy some on Craigslist, too. We sold our car in 1 day on Craigslist about a year ago. I just bought a guitar form someone on Tuesday from Craigslist. Got a steal on it!

Craigslist does have the advantage of selling locally, so you can see it in person before purchasing.

1930s Silvertone with the original cowboy and indians case. Has a great little sound. I think it's as worn in as it's going to get at this point!

I bought a car off of Ebay and had no problems. Of course it was local and I was able to actually see the car, drive it and meet the owner. I have purchased a bunch of stuff from Ebay and have never had a problem. As echoed by others, only buy from people with strong feedback ratings based on many transactions.
