A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing ?" She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over."

Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA." The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, " Welcome to the Republican party

Here's another joke:
One day many of the Republican middle class base wake -up to find that we are 9 trillion in debt to china and other country's(00ps we are) , that SS is practicly non-existent/gone (almost)and the cheapest health care deductible is about 1000.00 per person for every man , women and child.(wouldnt surprise me)

The Punch line is ...they realize they are just as screwed as the rest of the middle class who are independants and democrats

hey Sprint, just asking, how old are you?

sorry fellas, 10 yrs old? Wow, I just received this via email the other day.

35 Jabberwock, not sure the reasoning behind your interest of my age for a copy/paste forwarding?
Seems to be a popular question around here. Is this some sort of a fetish in the forum world I am unfamiliar with?
Anyhow, I saw in a previous post you are making poker challenges. I will most likely be doing the late shift tomorrow evening in sitngo's and Mtt's on Sportsbook if you are interested? Like most, I'm sure you call Pokerstars your home but after an early surge/withdrawl from that site, my ROI went on freefall and I lost my sharkscope dorsel fin.
If you play at Sportsbook, I hope to see you there.

isn`t that why we elected a democratic congress,roc?.....and why hillary will be elected this year?....

congress should be tiurning this ship around, right?

how bad is your life?....what are you doing without?...

and if you are doing without, get off the computer and get your ass to work...

howz`at grab ya`?

great sense of humor they have,eh pasprint?...jumping on the new guy for passing on a joke that doesn`t meet their criteria....

pay no attention to these humorless liberals,pa....they can`t even take a joke in the spirit of good humor without throwing a hissy...
they want to make sure that anyone new that speaks anything other than their propaganda...even a harmless joke, gets slapped down and chastized accordingly...

liberals..(hypocrites...but,but i`m being redundant)....this is why i say liberalism is a disease...

Gw, certainly you are not bllaming the libs for our current problems. It is true the dems hold a very slight edge over the old republicans who remain but you must concede that your boy Bush had 6 long years with a very friendly republican congress and they somehow managed to keep the boarders open! We could get into the rest but there is no need.

you`re dead right about the borders,s.d.........no argument from me..bush sucks and is very short sighted on the border.....and obviously, they do affecta good economy negatively...wait till the economy REALLY starts going south...

but the economy as a whole?....i never quite understood how a president gets the entire blame for a good or bad economy....the economy runs in cycles....it`s inevitable...

but,if that`s the case, bush has been the steward of 6 or 7 solid years..that is if you`re assigning credit or blame.....actually,we`ve had quite a long period of prosperity stretching from reagan throgh clinton and the bush`s....

what`s the issue?...unemployment?...5%..thats what it was for clinton...pretty good in any time other than a republican adm.....

production related jobs are leaving?....you can place a good part of the blame for that on unionization....we could go the protectionist route.... ..

elect ron paul..

`cause some yo-yos took out home loans they couldn`t swing?...it`s tough out there..don`t buy shit you can`t afford...economics 101..be responsible for your own situation...

my advice?...get a second job...my grandfather did it...i`m sure yours did,too...

i see this country`s current economic issues as just another turn in the cycle...just like politics....the republican cycle has run it`s course...now,a democratic cycle has begun in earnest..

if anyone thinks higher taxes...bigger gov`t(national healthcare that we can`t afford...that will make social security seem like a pimple on an elephant`s ass when combined with medicare) is gonna help the economy, good luck........

wait till we hit a severe recession....or depression...and all these illegals claim benefits....nobody thinks about that...we can float millions of illegals while things look rosey...healthcare,prisons,entitlements,..but,when things head south and you have all these extra mouths to feed and care for?....

g`luck hillary...

GW, talking about the non-legals what about the millions that will be pouring in from his buddies from Iraq. Of course we don't know how many of those will be members of the Death Squad. But what the heck?
It was the housing boom that kept Bush above water in the first place. Now he is trying to bail out the crooks who helped him before the bubble burst.

stevie...i think he is trying to help the victims more than bail out the lenders. the system will take care of the lenders who are in trouble...ie...b of a buying countrywide.

GW,
If bush is a GOP hardliner who cared s about smaller government and controlled spending then You obviously have ignored the facts and data that have been shared many times in this forum of how much more GWB has spent in the last 7yrs compared to Bill Clinton's 8 great years.GWB has spent so much more (excuse me -GWB has created so much more debt in the last 7 years -the numbers speak for themselves. I know its increased the national debt by SEVERAL Trillions of dollars-compared to where we were when Clinton left office.)
running a war campaign that costs 250 million PER DAY to keep it going can get a bit costly. When you factor in what it will truly cost with interest to china and other foreign governments who own these loans - you can see that the war will cost even more.
So are you still happy and feeling safe and secure from inflation/recession and terrorism while you sit watching TV with the remote in your hand. You might want to go out yourself and get one of those second jobs you suggested to me that I get .With the money you make you can set it aside for your Grand kids and great grand kids who will be saddled with paying off this BS created debt.
The Bill for this debt is going to come due - and aint going to be pretty. Supermodels want to be paid in Euro' and not Dollars (giselle-Tom Brady's girlfriend).Unheard of just 7 years ago when GWB took office, and thats a FACT not an opinion

The GOP is no longer a fiscally conservative party. The just mouth words that they are . they say one thing and do the opposite
Bring on a progressive or at least a libertarian like Ron Paul- we cant sink much worse as a nation(God help us)
Sorry if the facts on our national debt have depressed anyone-Its unfortunately a reality.as this day comes to a close- remember we just spent another 250 million in Iraq . remember that when Social security is unfundable in a few years. The GOP can fund (and borrow ) for this war but they warn us daily SS will be non-existent in a few years.(or at least greatly reduced and you will have to be older to collect it)For all middle class Americans I feel sorry.
Thats what I will be remembering as I head to the polls. Which party do you trust to insure a program you have paid into for a long time like SS will still be around (at its current level and format) in just a few short yrs.
do you think I am going to trust the GOP on that issue- not a chance

Roc

the war....9/11...katrina....pretty significant,wouldn`t you say?...

i agree that bush isn`t even close to being a conservative...no argument there....

my argument in defending bush is that the bds that afflicts liberals and "independents" like yourself is beyond rational.....but that`s another issue for another day....

rest easy...it looks as though conservatism is going into hiberbnation for awhile....considering that the leading primary candidates are almost as liberal as hillary(huckleberry/mccain).....

obama will be impossible to get a line on until the media stops giving him a pass(but he appears to be left of hillary)......and edwards is off the charts in kucinich-ville...

so,you won`t have bush to kick around much longer....a new day is dawning...

and i`m going to enjoy it...

i just pray that in the next 10 months or so that iraq stabilizes even moreso than it has through the surge and that hillary`s pull-out doesn`t undo and render useless what`s been accomplished by petraues....

as for paul,he`s dead....he`s toast...a crackpot...he has to much baggage and needs to stop wasting our time.....

associations with anti-semites to david duke to stormfront....and it`s all being uncovered as we speak...

the more public comments and show of support for paul by extremists, the more the dirty laundry comes out...

i thought the guy was just a crackpot...but there appear to be darker aspects to the lunatic...

i do like that blimp,though...very cool...

Don't feel bad Sprint --Its like the oldies but goodies--

--you know thier good when opposition can only comment age of subject--but can't argue the content--

I got one about 10 years old I keep archived on taxes I have to bring back everynow and then.

The simple analogies are the hardest to contest. :)

No offense taken, just strange that it was cause to inquire my age....anyhow, lets just drop that end of it.
I assume the "fair engine" question was simply, "how frequently do you get fawked there?"
I take much less beats at Sportsbook than PokerStars (even before withdrawl). The downside of Sportsbook is the amount of players (usually 5K people online vs. 80K+ at Stars). The cardfall is different IMO. The miracle trash hands that you play differ site to site. (If you play alot of online you know what I'm talking about).
The BIGGEST clunker with Sportsbook is getting paid.... you'll get it, but you better have some patience.
