Funny how the apple fell so close. Either it's who they brought with them to WH. Or they both just don't/didn't understand economy. Bush 43 yesteday our banks are strong and handling proplem. So our 5th largest banking/investment ferm fails 24 hours later. And he repeats same thing. Has No Clue.

Jack:

When he said that about the economy and the financial institutions, did he preface his statements with "read my lips" and was he standing under a "Mission Accomplished" banner?

ECONOMIC CYCLES people...How in the world is it Bushes fault for the economy going south, all he has done is lower interest rates and allowed the government to bail out the banks. I guess everything these days is GW Bushes fault.

What is the President supposed to say other than everything is okay:rolleyes:

They both have no clue, OR much of this has been done by design?

I honestly don't know which is the case... but isn't it a widely held view that the powers that be, in the executive branch and the Fed are purposefuly doing a lot of this? So as to enrich themselves and their cronies?

I'm not smart enough to know one way or the other, but I believe that is just as likely than them simply being bumbling fools with no clue.

Obviously a lot of ecnomics is cyclical and out of anybodies hands, but much of the Feds tactics have been accused as temporary fixes to keep "us" happy and docile in the short term, while in the long run destroy the middle class.

People that live in glass house shouldn't throw stones.

We've had threads here in past on last fed gas tax increase (Clinton) -- proposed future increased gas tax by Dems--drilling for oil in Anwar and off-shore to reduce oil dependency.

---and those with no prob on gas taxes and not wanting to drill for oil --are the very same that complain weekly about gas prices--what adjective would you use to describe these people-

--and while on topic--if you are in the camp (I'm not) of feds being responsible for subprime fiasco--how do you blame one person--but give the dem majority (who promised to cure all your ills if elected in 06) a free pass?

What does a gas TAX increase have to do with oil being $110 a gallon? Talk about not having a clue. Where do you find that Kool Aid?

Do you go to college or do you have a degree? I believe the President has a business masters degree from Harvard, but he knows nothing about economic cycles:shrug:

Vote for Hussein Obama and make it all better

Stevie What is it about liberals when they have no answer to question they change the topic--I believe we/jabber were speaking of gas prices--

Now I'll answer you heating oil question and you can all huddle up and try and change topic again--
What in the world makes you think heating oil is not taxed.
--and relating to what I said about gas prices and what it would look like if Dems had been in power-

--put this in your collective pipes and smoke it--

In 1993 the industry successfully launched a campaign against President Bill Clinton's proposed 60 cents BTU (British Thermal Unit) tax on heating oil. The tax was eventually lowered to the same level as tax increases on other forms of energy.

You know--It's getting old and cumberson to daily have to counter liberals opinions with the facts.

I'm come to conclusion it's futile-Maybe we can have have seperate threads of discussion here--
One for the glass half empty-its not my fault crowd
to collectively  in

--and one for the optomistic to try and find oppourtunity or defense against adversities.

Dogs you have no facts only lies. A barrel of oil was $30 a gallon when Bush took over. Now it is $110. No matter how you try to spin it a proposed or a real tax increase by Clinton had nothing to do with it.
I would rather pay a gas tax and have the money go to fixing roads and bridges than to put the money in some Arab or Oil execs pocket.

Just you saying and believing the President actually is smart enough to get a masters degree- puts you in a moonbat category all to its own.

Also of course Bush is going to say everything is alright, A-ok. We are on the edge of monetary collapse. The fed is putting bandaids on compound fractures, and Jack is right about all the crap of sending letters out early. they want you to jump start the economy with credit cards now and then when you DO get your check spend it on more stuff. It still won't be enough. We are in some serious trouble with no end in sight.

GW why do you think congress has a lower approval rating than Bush? It is because they have given him everything he wants. So therefore, some of us moderates hate them for that. But the Bush lovers hate them because they are Dems so they vote against them too while voting that they like Bush..

No matter how you slice it Bush has screwed things up so bad the next guy doesn't stand a chance. But I am sure that guys like you and DTB will be ready to pounce.
