Tony Romo made one man very happy, and it had nothing to do with throwing touchdowns.
The Dallas Morning News reported on Wednesday that the Cowboys quarterback took a homeless man to the movies recently.

The man, who goes by Doc, was outside a theater in in Dallas when a man came up and offered to pay his way to see a movie. Planning on passing out fliers for a consignment store across the street, Doc declined. But then he realized that he had just turned down Romo.

He ran across the street, asked for the day off and ran back to the theater. Romo and Doc ended up sitting together watching the movie "Role Model." Doc told the newspaper that he informed Romo that he hadn't showered in days.

"Don't worry about that," Romo said, according to the newspaper. "I'm used to locker rooms."

Romo reportedly also changed the tire of a couple on the way home the night of the season opener and showed up to a high school pep rally with actor Will Smith earlier this week. He confirmed the encounter with Doc but wouldn't elaborate.

This latest gesture really impressed Doc.

"For me, it was a blessing," Doc said. "It came at just the right time. It gave me some encouragement and faith in mankind. I just wanted to say thank you."

Tony Romo Helps Couple Change Tire

With the exception of fame, fortune and superstar girlfriends, Tony Romo is just like you and me. After Browns game, he helped a couple fix a flat tire.

Bill and Sharon White told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that at least 100 drivers ignored their broken-down Mercury before someone stopped late Sunday. Sharon White said a well-dressed man "with something strange on his chin" walked up and offered a hand.

"Don't tell me how you guys did," [Bill White] said he told Romo. "I'm going home to watch it."
This isn't a huge deal; just a nice guy doing a good thing. But the media likes to focus its attention on the negative things surrounding the Cowboys, I wanted to point it out. Everyone talks about the bad things T.O. does, but I'm never hear them talking about what T.O. did at the ESPYs.

Small Town Wisconsin to be exact - Burlington - no big city bullshit in him - down to earth and real.

The advantage of growing up in a small community - not full of the BS from the big city, and still down to earth enough to remember that people are people, and willing to help those in need.

I'm not a Dallas fan, nor a Romo fan, but these stories we hear about him are pretty cool.

And doing Ms. Simpson isn't all bad either :00hour

Cowboys qb, rich, girlfriend is one of the hottest women on earth, stops to help strangers who need help, pays for a homeless man to watch a movie

being from a small town just shows how humble he is and down to earth

you don't have to be a NFL quarterback, anybody here could afford to pay 10 bucks to take someone down on their luck to themovies, question is would anybody?

on a side note, my kid brother is regional head of LP for Nordstrom last year Jessica Simpson came in with her personal bodyguard for cosmetics and shit, she had a concert in Providence that night. Evidently some of the greatest tits imaginable, even with tank top on:00hour

That's what the average person does. Just because he's a superstar, that means he's going to get pub and portrayed as some suprficial hero.

I disagree - the "average" person drives right by someone on the side of the highway with a flat tire... most are too afraid of getting involved or in too much of a hurry to do so.

And there is no way the average person takes a homeless person to the movie with them.....

And the "average" NFL QB doesn't put up numbers like Romo does....

He's just not an "average" guy I guess...

I should've been more clear, sorry. What I meant is, it's what the average person SHOULD do. I agree, the average person wouldn't though.

I've yet to see a homeless person at the theatre where I live around though, or I'm sure I'd help.

Whenever the girlfriend and I go out and about, she thinks we should do things for people and we often buy clothes for people we know could use them, stuff like that.

I saw Romo, Zack Thomas and Jason Whitten at the Cold Play concert last week... He sang every song out loud.. Like screaming his head off.. Having a great time like any other drunk 20 something... people were busting their balls all night too... nobody left them alone.. but they were all cool and nice to everyone from what i could see

I prefer to buy things for myself

the homeless are homeless for a reason I have never given them any money, go beg Barack Obama if you want a handout, not me

I tell them to get off their ass and work, quit begging me for money
