Illinois is not alone

Kentucky politicians ought not feel too smug about all the bad ink the Illinois state government is getting following the arrest of its Gov. Rod Blagojevich on federal allegations that he tried to make money by filling the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama.

A year-old analysis of the U.S. Justice Department Public Integrity Section?s 2006 report to Congress ranked Kentucky behind only Louisiana and Mississippi for federally prosecuted public corruption. Illinois, which has watched governor after governor be accused, indicted and/or jailed, ranked 6th. The analysis was released in October 2007 by Corporate Crime Reporter, a weekly legal newsletter based in Washington. The analysis was published by Common Dreams NewsCenter, billed as a non-profit news service for the Progressive Community.

Russell Mokhiber, editor of Corporate Crime Reporter, calculated the ratings according to the number of federal public corruption convictions per 100,000 population from 1997 to 2006 for the 35 most populous states, 2 million or more population. The result:

Louisiana 7.67
Mississippi 6.66
Kentucky 5.18
Alabama 4.76
Ohio 4.69
Illinois 4.68
Pennsylvania 4.55
Florida 4.47

Stevie What did I tell you about getting your info from liberal rags/media--

WASHINGTON --The media watch-group Accuracy in Media charged today that a liberal activist and associate of Ralph Nader has been obtaining access to White House press briefings while claiming to be a legitimate news reporter.

Russell Mokhiber, who sells a $795 a year newsletter that bashes corporations, attends the briefings to make obscure anti-Bush political points. Recently, for example, he asked spokesman Scott McClellan whether President Bush violated one of the Ten Commandments by invading Iraq. Mokhiber, who told AIM that he has never taken a journalism class in his life and was denied a permanent White House press pass, posts his ludicrous questions and answers on a far-left web site under the title "Scottie & Me."

Other Mokhiber topics have included industrial hemp, Israel's 1967 attack on the USS Liberty, possible war crimes charges against Bush, and Halliburton.

AIM editor Cliff Kincaid said Mokhiber's attendance at the briefings makes it clear that the controversy over Jeff Gannon attending the same briefings was manufactured by left-wing bloggers and liberals in the media because they don't want conservatives in the White House press corps. Gannon resigned from Talon News, a conservative on-line service, and announced that he was leaving journalism altogether because of a left-wing investigation of his personal life that followed objections to his anti-Democrat question at a presidential press conference. One of many charges made against Gannon was that he lacked proper journalistic credentials.

Have always been curious if people from Mass had to chose between Franks and Edwards--which ones character would they'd choose they most closely identify with.
Could you give us your take?

Dogs, so do you disagree with the article or not? Not sure what you talking about. If you think the article is wrong post something that disproves it?

I am sure you are right Skul. OBama is not a US citizen (the thousands of lawyers working for the GOP just are not as smart and informed as you are) and OBama, on his way to becoming the President of the United States, decided he would make some extra pocket money selling his old Senate seat. It all makes perfect sense. I am sure he sold all of his cabinet appointments and is currently taking bids on future Supreme Court nominations. Don't worry about the fact that there is absolutely not one shred of evidence of his involvement in this absurdity. The pure intellectual horsepower of the skul, hedge, and weasel thinktank is awesome to behold. TIA. FWIW. GFY.

By the way, the funny thing is that it is one the most efficient economically robust big city in the country. Every time I go back there there are new neighborhoods improved and looking like a million bucks. The Chicago area has a diverse economy that is built to withstand tough economic times. Daley will go down in my books as the greatest mayor of our generation. Regarding your question, buying off a jury would be no more likely in Chicago than Tuscalossa Alabama.

Exactly how many references would you like to dispute it? Lets use the 1st liberal one I come to--NYT
http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2008/12/14/weekinreview/20081214_MARSH_GRFK_1.html
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/14/weekinreview/14marsh.html?_r=2

Now you and Jabbers produce another site that doesn't your left wing wacko as source but comes up with same 3's he did.

--and this is Jabbers definition of proof :142smilie

Proof is when your caught punk pages or staggering off from crime scene and leaving someone to die--as in my reference.

Now back to my question which Dem Mass icon do both of you identify more with--

:s8: :142hump: :yup
or
:drinky: :s1: kurby

hmm....I guess the "per capita" analysis is the part you missed. Too hard to explain to you.

Barney Frank and Ted Kennedy? WTF do they have to do with anything?

Widen your horizons, dtb. There are true southern democrats out there that are looking forward to an OBama presidency, even though he is half colored.

Bobby,

We just can't educate these guys. Everyone in Chicago and Illinois hates Blagos guts but the rest of the politicians get painted with the broad brush. Everyone there is a thug though so better watch out when you go out at night. Forgot to mention earlier that most people I know who visit call it ithe cleanest big city in the country too. Also, great place for single guys to get laid per your comment about the young grads moving in from all over the midwest. Oh well, we're all Thugs. :mj07:

The reason you can't educate us is some of us refuse to let liberal opinion trump the facts--and considering the facts would assume from 2nd part of your statement that "most people you know or opinionated liberals.
You know--I have often wondered how adults can be so naive as to look at facts and bite on the global warming scams--the yes we can/I believe BS--but considering the facts below and your statement above--it reinforces the epitome of liberal logic. Maybe you could share with us your logic on why a city that ranks dead last could be one of the cleanest cities if not for extreme opinionated liberal logic.

http://www.rd.com/your-america-insp...-dirtiest-cities-in-america/article15115.html

What?s the cleanest big city in the U.S.? How about the dirtiest? In our July issue, we decided to find out, by analyzing data to score each of the 50 largest cities on air quality, water quality, industrial pollution (toxics), Superfund sites, and sanitation. Rather than just the cities themselves, we looked at metropolitan areas, which include surrounding counties and suburbs. (This can have a real effect on a place?s score; Chicago, for example, has excellent water but its score is brought down by problems in the outlying areas). Because we only looked at the 50 largest places, there may be smaller cities that are much cleaner or dirtier than these?and because the scores represent relative rankings, that a city comes in first or last in a given category does not necessarily mean it?s perfectly pristine or dangerously filthy.

HOW WE SCORED: Metro areas earned points on a scale from 1 to 50 in each category, with the numbers reflecting a city's ranking next to the other places. Since it's a 50-city survey, the cleanest in a category got 50 points. Next, to get a preliminary score, we weighted the five categories in terms of the health threat each one posed relative to the others (the weighting was further adjusted for cities with no sanitation data.) Water and air scores, for example, got twice the weight of sanitation scores, since it's of little value to have pristine streets if what you drink and breathe are killing you. To get final scores, we averaged all the points for each city.

Here, then, is our list of the 50 largest metro areas in America and how they compare. Higher total numbers mean a cleaner city.

Its not that I didn't put it up (per Capita) Stevie--its that you with your liberal comrades refuse to read anything other than your liberal bibles.
It same ole story everytime--
Opinion --then :00x7 when facts are presented to contrary--followed by more opinion and always ended with a :mj07: --as if laughing about your ignorance makes it acceptable.

Let me walk you through it real slooooow.

I prior thread rebutting your per capita example--
It's the thread that ends with asking which of your 2 state icons you identify with most--

you will find 2 links from NTY. The 2nd link
has link with chart entitled--
"The Guilty, per Capita (Graphic)" DUH--and what was your question??????

Now that you,Roger and Jabbers have been exposed once again
--give us your ole kurby :wall: routine again till next time.

I certainly am having fun with these icons-puts things a little more in perspective--
--how about the -- Barney/Kennedy ones--did you like them?

Hard to believe the most populous cities would have the worst scores on the list. People tend to pollute, Dogs and the only way to move up that list is to implement all those neo-fascist greenies policies.

I also think that Roger was referring to the cleanliness in appearance of the city and it's an OPINION that he has from his eyes, not a FACT that he determined from googling "Chicago Dirtiest City" and clicking the first link. Get out of the house sometime and form your own informed opinion - it'd be good for you.
