The Panthers took it on the chin in a colossal upset on Saturday which in turn ruined my small 1 unit teaser play  ...the Ravens +10 had already covered the first half of the tease.

I've been careful up to now in the playoffs playing with house money. :yup

But this week I will lay down the Hammer!

I was originally considering 3 units on the money line but at -240+ at most places it's too much juice for me.

I could have hit the Steelers at -5 early on but decided the safer way is to buy down to -3 (at -185) for a total of 2 units

Medium Size 2 Unit Play:

Pittsburgh Steelers ?3 (-185)
over Ravens

The Steelers are one home win away from earning the right to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl?in their way this week is a Baltimore Ravens team that has survived their first two games in the playoffs but injuries have taken it?s toll on their team?I pointed out back in week fifteen that the Steelers would beat the Ravens that week in route to winning their division because they matched up well with a Ravens secondary which was banged up back then?I noted that CB Chris McAllister and S Dawan Landry were OUT due to injuries?and their staring CB?s Samari Rolle and Fabian Washington didn?t matchup well against a Steelers passing attack that was capable of piling it on like they did in the Steelers 38-7 home win in 2007 when Big Ben threw 5 TD passes in that game?since then the Ravens defensive front seven has played well but their secondary hasn?t played well?Ravens CB Fabian Washington (a poor cover CB) was abused by Titans WR Justin Gage last week while their other starter Samari Rolle was average at best but suffered a groin injury in the game which has him listed as questionable at this time?Rolle will be less than 100% IF he?s even able to play?their backup SS and return specialist Jim Leonard who?s played well in a starting role suffered a concussion last week and is also listed as questionable?3rd string rookie S Tom Zbikowski will be forced into a starting roll at SS if Leonard is unable to play while 3rd string Cb Corey Ivy will be forced to start if Rolle is a no go?this not only affects their starting lineup but their nickel and dime packages as well?plus Leonard was handling the Ravens punt return duties as of late?I haven?t even mentioned the fact that starting DE Terrell Suggs is also questionable to play as of today (Monday) with a shoulder injury?on the flip side?the Steelers have no new significant injuries?the Steelers swept the Ravens this season and have won 3 of the last 4 in the series including a 38-7 Monday Night beat-down last year at home...this week they will play a very injury ravaged Ravens team that was truly lucky to get by a Titans team last week (that lost it?s best back Chris Johnson in the first half) and was dominated to the tune of giving up 21 first downs and 391 total yards in the process?the Titans inability to protect the football is the lone reason that the Ravens survived last week? All in All?The Steelers are the much healthier unit and will be playing at home in front of a very loud home crowd?the Steelers defense is the better unit overall and offensively I?ll back the more experienced Qb Ben Roeslisberger and Co going against a patchwork secondary while Rookie Joe Flacco must face a Steelers defense led by defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau who has already seen Flacco twice this season?IF the Ravens were healthier?this would likely be another dogfight?but they aren?t?so it won?t!
Pittsburgh 26 Baltimore 13
:bigun:

Note ? The game time weather is calling for a few light flurries with temps around 31 and winds being very light at 9 mph?(A windy forecast would favor the Ravens since both teams passing game would be hampered).

P.S. - Sorry Jack!...maybe if the Ravens were healthier.

Note- I've decided to make this a 2 unit play because of the juice.

WINNER!!!!

:Kid1:

The Ravens have a long list, but everyone should play except linebacker Antwan Barnes, who missed Saturday's victory over the Titans with a chest injury. The biggest question mark is linebacker Terrell Suggs, who injured his shoulder Saturday and didn't finish the Titans game. Suggs said after the game that he would play next week regardless of the extent of the injury, so don't count him out. The likely scenario is Suggs will dress and at least play on passing downs. The Ravens will have around 10 players on their injury report this week. Cornerback Samari Rolle suffered a minor groin injury Saturday, but he expects to play in Pittsburgh. He was questionable all last week because of a thigh injury. Safety Jim Leonhard suffered a minor concussion, but the team doesn't think he will miss much practice this week. Tight end Todd Heap took a hit to the ribs and was already playing with a sore back. Running back Le'Ron McClain tweaked an ankle. Among the other Ravens who will be listed on the injury report are safety Ed Reed (knee), defensive tackle Justin Bannan (foot), linebacker Jarret Johnson (calf), kicker Matt Stover (ankle) and cornerback Fabian Washington (neck)."

according to clayton:

"The Steelers couldn't be healthier. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger showed no ill effects from the concussion he suffered in Week 17. As he does in normal weeks, wide receiver Hines Ward will probably miss Wednesday's practice to rest. Pittsburgh has no other injury issues. The Steelers are as healthy as they've been all season. The Ravens are really banged up which is why I love the Steelers this weekend...a bunch of them will likely play but just how effective will they be?

i don't think there will be any problem whatsoever. they have been hampered with injuries the whole season so no new news here.

they should be more healthy than they were the whole 2nd half vs TEN last week.

From what I heard today Suggs has stated that he will play this weekend...however...with that type of injury I doubt if he's going to last too long If he plays at all.

The Ravens real problem will be putting enough healthy players on the field on Sunday...my guess is that the Ravens will see a bunch of 4 wide sets by the Steelers to spread the field and find a mismatch in their secondary...plus the long range forecast is calling for light winds...if it were to be a windy game the Steelers advantage in the passing game would be negated by the weather...but...if the weather forecast is right :mj07: it should be clear sailing for both teams passing game.

I'm no Steelers fan and if I weren't going to pound this game I'd be rooting for you Jack...but...I really love the Steelers chances this weekend.

i'm not really going to be involved in a bet, just rooting for my team.

i have $300 to win $7500 for the Ravens to win the AFC so I'll probably split it up close to even.

Damn shame for me that the Steelers are such a big fave this time. I was thinking it would be -150 like the other games. -250 makes a huge difference in my profits.

It sure does!

Just think though if you do split it close to even and the Ravens pull the upset...then you're still sitting really pretty to cash in on a HUGE payday!

I added this 1 Unit Play:

2 game 6 point teaser
Pittsburgh Steelers ?pick WINNER!!
&
Arizona Cardinals +10
WINNER!!

Cardinals +10?The Cardinals took it on the chin 48-20 the last time these two teams met back on Thanksgiving Night? but that was on the road on the east coast where the Cards were 0-6 SU during the regular season?however at home this season (and in the playoffs) the Birds are 7-2 SU and have scored 272 points or 30.2 per game?on the flip side? the Eagles were 5-4-1 on the road during the regular season and their road failures included a late season tie with the Bungles?the Eagles offense struggled mightily down the stretch during the regular season scoring just 43 points in their last 4 road games for an average of 10.7 per game?in the playoffs it appears that they have fared much better posting 26 and 23 points in their road wins?.but?versus the Vikings 7 of those points came on a pick 6 by CB Asante Samuel?and versus the Eagles 7 points again came directly from another Eagles INT by Samuel that resulted in a short 1 yard TD run by McNabb?their offensive production is still below par because the Eagles are too one dimensional for my liking at this time because they simply can?t run the football effectively?in their two playoff matchups, they have run the ball 51 times for just 126 yards or 2.4 yards per carry?if you watched both of the Eagles playoff contests?it isn?t the play of their offense that has them in the NFC Championship game? it?s the play of their defense which is why I?m taking the home town Cardinals +10 to cover the points in this teaser and have a chance to possibly win this one outright?plus?the Cards defense matches up well this time around versus the Eagles offense and the Cards have a high scoring offense and some serious revenge on their minds after getting embarrassed on national TV back on Thanksgiving Night?Trends? The Cardinals are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games in January?4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on grass?4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. NFC?10-4 ATS in their last 14 games as an underdog of 3.5-10.0?7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games?11-5 ATS vs. a team with a winning record?.but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog?.The Eagles are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 meeting with the Cards?5-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record?5-0 ATS in their last 5 playoff road games?5-0 ATS in their last 5 games on grass?7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a winning home record?6-1 ATS in their last 7 playoff games?6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall?5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. NFC?4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win?4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite?4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win...12-4 ATS in their last 16 road games?5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in January? The Favorite is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings? All in All?At first glance I penciled in the Eagles to win this one and advance?but?after carefully breaking this one down, it won?t be that easy?I believe the Cardinals have a legitimate shot at winning this one outright...but?if it comes down to a late game field goal, I?ll take my chances with David Akers over an erratic Neil Rackers ?just a hunch that the Eagles find a way to win?but a Cards win would no longer shock me.

I agree Phill game closer then first one. Phill still wins but by 7.
As for Balt being banged up. The odds makers know more then we do. So I say Pitt wins but does not cover the -5. Close but by 4 only.
