There are two amendments going up for vote in Nashville next week to make an "English Only" rule.

This is fecking gross to me. The one thing I don't understand is who the few people are that support this thing.

I have been searching for a list of local politicians in support of these amendments, so I can do my first active campaigning in my life (aside from helping a friend's dad when I was little) to make sure they never get elected or collect another penny from taxpayer's pockets.

Here's the actual charter:

English is the official language of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee. Official actions which bind or commit the government shall be taken only in the English language, and all official government communications and publications shall be in English. No person shall have a right to government services in any other language. All meetings of the Metro Council, Boards, and Commissions of the Metropolitan Government shall be conducted in English. The Metro Council may make specific exceptions to protect public health and safety. Nothing in this measure shall be interpreted to conflict with federal or state law.

The bolded portion is the part that is absolute bullshit. Nashville has a large refugee population that would greatly suffer for this.

It must be noted that English is already the "official" language of the state of TN which trickles down to Nashville government operations. This is only about people being able to receive translation services while getting government services.

Nashville spends about $100,000 per year in translation services. This is what the cronies are flashing in front of the voters face to garner votes.

Does anyone care to mention that there has been a minimum of $350,000 spent on getting this to a vote?

Fecking MORANS!

Yet another blow to the "backwards" image of the south:(

I think they got this idea from a steak house in Philly. Plastered all over the news a few years ago with nitwits supporting it. I bet Raymond would be a big fan of this law.

Maybe when he sees something ridiculous he doesn't follow right in line with it because a party supports it? By the way Wease did u check out 60 minutes last week? All that drilling conning u fell for just last year seemed to be denouced on that segment. Remember how u were crying about us needing to drill? Seems supply and demand wasn't the problem after all. Drill baby drill.

Yeah, really, what's the big deal. Mitch McConnell introduced legislation in the Kentucky house that would have made caucasion the official race of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Baptist the official religion. It passed 72% for 28% agin.

spongy, supply is a problem when you`re getting 25% of your oil from despots and your enemies...... we`re filling their coffers....

particularly when we have enough to offset the oil we buy from opec right here....

but,we have to consider global warming(oh wait,it`s climate change now...but,it doesn`t seem to be getting any warmer?)......or whatever the "green" scam artists are pushing this week....

it`s funny when you consider that we`re neutering ourselves...thee country that is the most environmentally responsible in it`s methods of obtaining energy...all the while china and russia and mexico and venezuela laugh at the way we kick ourselves in the nuts....

we can be greener than kermit the frog and it all amounts to shit without the cooperation of the real polluters.....

even if we lived in huts with campfires and ambulated in ox drawn wagons, that ain`t changing what these other nations aren`t doing...

we`re suckers...
