I've said it before and I'll say it again. They don't even deserve to make the NIT, Go home Thompson. You suck and your team sucks.:mj07:

Georgetown, ND and Cincy all sealed their fate the past two days. They were longshots anyway for the tourney, now they have to hope for NIT bids. Hopefully I don't have to hear about how great the Big East is for a couple of weeks.

and hopefully I won't have to see any Big 10 teams playing in the second week of the tournament. Shouldn't be too much of a stretch for that to happen.

Yup....Books made a killing on ND and GTown this season. I'm sure they were two teams they loved to see on the board. I learned my lesson on the Hoyas...I had the Johnies tonight.

Hud you can throw cuse in there with ND and Gtown!

There's three in the Big East who suck. Throw in DePaul (winless in the conference), one-win Rutgers, and South Florida (who can barely break 50 pts), you've got 30% of the league that's garbage.

You could be right, we shall see. The mighty Big east had 1, count em, 1 win against a top 25 team heading into the conference season. Nd over Texas. Granted, since that time some other teams have moved into the top 25, while Texas has dropped out. Big 10 had 6 wins vs. top 25 heading into the conference, including Minnesota topping Louisville. I know the style of play is not what everyone wants to see and that is why they rip on them, but they do have several solid teams. Not quite as top heavy as PItt and Uconn obviously. Good luck to you and whoever you follow.

Saying DePaul and Rutgers are garbage isn't earth-shattering. Cuse, ND and G'Town are three teams that are definitely in the lower half of the conference. However, each of those 3 would mop the floor with any bottom half team from any other conference.

Lets not take away from the "playaz" in the Big East. Louisv Uconn Pitt are LEGIT. I liked marq a lot until they lost James and Nova can run ball as they have great guard play! The rest forget about it!

How about G'Town over Memphis?

How about UConn over Gonzaga?

How about UConn over Miami?

How about UConn over Wiscy?

How about Marquette over Wiscy?

How about Seton Hall over USC?

How about Cuse over Florida?

How about Cuse over Kansas?

How about Cuse over Memphis?

How about WVU over Ohio St.?

Now as you said, rankings change, but those were all Big East wins against teams ranked in the top 25 at the time of play. Those were the parameters you set forth.

I researched these on the monday before conference play began as my buddy and I were debating them.. he is an ND fan. I stand by my previous statement that Texas was the only ranked team on that particular Monday. None of those teams were ranked at the time. Memphis was close and Gonzaga had just lost a couple of games. All of the others have been ranked at some time, but not just prior to the conference season. They may have been ranked when they played them, but were not ranked at that time.

MADNESS is just around the corner of a melting snowbank..

the pretenders will be sent packing and the lines will separate those who think they know and those who really know..

just about time to find the bracket sheets from years past and find out just how well those doggies REALLY DID in that first round..

gotta love those numbers..

such as great way to separate fact from fiction..

gotcha. Memphis was out of the rankings at that time, but that was due to losing to two Big East teams in a span of a week. Gonzaga and Ohio St. were in the rankings though. Anyway, kind of getting into technicalities at that point, so no sense in arguing.

No offense taken, and sorry if I was annoying. I just think the Big East is an unbelievable perfect storm of really good teams this year. It doesn't happen often at all in college basketball. The last time a comparable situation occurred was the Big 10 in '88-'89.

Mr. Poon:

No hard feelings here either. I wasn't trying to say that the Big East sucked, they obviously have some very good teams and some teams up top that are more capable to get to the final four than the Big Ten. As a Michigan State fan, I naturally root for the conference in the tourney and this year will be no different. Can the Big Ten get bounced in round 1? sure... can they get 4-5 teams past the first weekend? sure. That 's why it's called March Madness, were always left surprised. Good luck to you the rest of the year.
