Well lets see--you can go to your masters website and he'll explain--or I can give answer from your liberal bible msnbc link

WASHINGTON - President-elect Barack Obama vowed Tuesday to bar lawmakers' pet projects from his massive economic stimulus plan and to bring unprecedented accountability to federal spending.
Even as he promised to fight waste and to make tough budgetary decisions, however, Obama warned that the nation could face trillion-dollar deficits for years to come. Eight years ago the federal budget ran a surplus, and the deficit on Sept. 30 was about $455 billion
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
then bare in mind when he he promised no pork--he took a pass (like when in senate)

If you go to his site you might comment there if he had a sack--all he had to do was use a thing they call a "veto" to back up his promise rather than sign it.

in addition you might ask him about this :)

Ear-ing on the Side of Caution
President Obama made a no-earmark pledge on the campaign trail and even outlined plans to overhaul a system he said was broken. But Congressional Quarterly reports the president is listed in the 2009 Omnibus Spending Bill as one of dozens of co-sponsors of a $7.7 million earmark. The request is for vocational training in two states.
A Senate Appropriations Committee spokesman says the request will be edited to attribute it to other senators and not the president. No changes are expected to be made to other special project requests by top Obama administration officials.
The president, vice president, his chief of staff and the four Cabinet secretaries who were in Congress last year are all either sponsors or co-sponsors of hundreds of millions of dollars in pet projects in the massive spending bill.
Vice President Joe Biden has his name attached to almost $95 million in earmarks, while Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is linked with over $227 million in special projects.

We shall see what happens to the next one. This one should not have been left for Obama to sign. I don't know why it was not sign last September it was ready. And I just saw on Bloomberg where Sen Shelby was new guy on top of the list.
Obama just spoke and the rules are changing. The Sen better be happy they got this last one through.

Seems like this question was missed

but how does one get a stimulus package without pork? What's in the stimulus package that they don't think is pork?

we can`t even agree unilaterally that all this overspending on crap is hurting the country?:nooo:

Exactly? I guess it is just a degree of pork. A bill designed at face value to spread money around to states is nothing but pork.

it should be aimed specifically at creating jobs and helping businesses...

not just feathering democrat constituents` nests like unions to the exclusion of others...

anyway, the hidden taxation is gonna cost everyone in this economy...not just the well-to- do..

how the hell does anybody think all this garbage gets paid for?....

they`ll tax the gas that goes in, the emissions that come out, the rubber that you ride on, your bottle of water, the cigar in your lips, the wind in your colon AND the bridge that you cross to get to the job to pay for it all....

/then the taxes really begin to kick in....

I can extend this to you - I definitely agree that much of this is both overspending and crap - considering the place we are all in at this point. I think the dems have to take some ownership of ramming through a lot of pork and seem to be taking advantage of the mandate they were given, to a degree.

Now, I can also talk more about the overspending and crap that was spent during the previous administration - which is in my opinion - on endeavors outside the borders of this country. To think what that money could have done for Americans in general...that saddens me, and keeps me focused on changing the tone. But, not to digress - I think there is plenty wrong with what is taking place right now. I sincerely hope it all works out in the long run - time will tell.

Great point here and by BBC.

So feck the whole bill!!! :)

Let's take the $410 billion cut in by about 75% and fund REAL entrepreneurial ventures such as TRULY green-focused automotive startups and other companies that will create real jobs.

Or let's just scrap the whole thing.

I'll add one other point jabbers--the rebs piss me off much more than the Dems on this issue--they would have had enough votes with the moderate dems to vote this bill down--but the reb porkers voted for it--to get their pork through.

I knew you would find some way to blame the Republicans for this.

Oh wait...

:)

My prob with pork is -federal money (tax payors money) going to bail out states that make bad choices--let em live with and pay for their convictions.

CA good example--they want to be leader in all these greenie and other areas but have to be continuely bailed out.
You got the union led states with highest unemployment and we have to bail them out.
Same with all the welfare and Medicade.

Doesn't make any diff if people elect leaders in their state that balance budget--they get taxed by feds who "redistribute it" to states that don't.

Would be nice if each state was independent of fed gov.
Just one example--
--Can you imagine if a state said they would allow only one dependent on welfare for any unweb mothers--you'd have migration of welfare recipients out of that state and into liberal states--and each could prosper or fall by virtue of consequences of their convictions.
