Congrats to Arizona getting to sweet 16. I don't think they deserved a bid, definitely did not last year over Arizona St.
That said, just enjoy the run. UNC did not deserve a bid when they went 7-9 in ACC about a decade ago and ended up in the Final 4.
The fact that they got to the Final 4 did not prove at all whether they belonged or not, just meant they made the best of what was an unfair opportunity. As a fan, I was obviously happy but never tried to justify what happened in the dance with earning the right to be there.
Two different discussions, but again, congrats and good luck in the next round.

All I know is that they are lucky to be in. Going .500 in the below average Pac-10 (9-10 if you count the 1st round loss in conf tourney).
Quality wins over Kansas and Gonzaga. Lost 5 out of last 6 games. Yeah, you are right. They deserve to have a chance at the national title. I would have definitely put St. Mary's over them among others.

The biggest thing me and others were saying though, is that people try to say its justified by what happens after the fact.
Whether they deserve a bid or not, its clear you want to justify getting in by what happens after the fact.

They might not have belonged. They kind of half assed it all season, like you mentioned before.. the teams who got left out definitely didnt deserve it.This has been one of my favorite programs, glad they are back to doing well in the tourney.
Again, the main thing I was saying was that please don't try to justify them being in by what happens in the tourney.
Amazing they got in both last year AND this year. Let them go play in the ACC or Big East and they would have most likely not even got to the NIT.

st marys is in the tournament they belonged in once cleve stat -miss state- won conf tourneys
Fitting that in the Year of Chalk the Sweet 16 No.12 Seed Cinderella is the team that has been in the tourney the most conseutive years.
gjn, could have gone either way. They may deserve over others, maybe not. A very, very average season, and that is being generous.
