how can you make love right after your team loses on the last play of the game

You can't......Christ, I can't even do this :bed: after a late night bad beat.

Good luck though. It's gonna be hard to hide no matter how hard you try, those bad beats are gonna show on your grumpy face.

Sort of when my wife was alive, although she didn't care because she didn't have to pay, but made out when I collected. Every time I won she got a few hundy or bought something nice. Pretty much how it worked.

I say this with all due respect: Decide which you like better, gambling or your wife.Thendecide if your gambling has taken a distructive toll on your life or not,ie does she have good reason to be worried. If you want to make a go of your marriage, don't keep on playing behind her back, you'll eventually get caught or tip her off with you behavior, and it'll hurt your marriage by distracting you from her.If she's not down with it,decide how important she is to you now,not after you are sitting alone somewhere not knowing what hit you, getting divorced over dishonesty issues.Just my 2 cents.GL

Mr. Lock, trust me, I have been in your shoes. You're out with friends or family and checking scores... it's freaking embarrassing. Think how it looks to them after awhile. You can't even get into a great conversation without talking sports at some point or thinking about what's happening in a game, etc. I'm amazed my wife has put up with this crap for over 10 years.

In the end, it's just smarter to enjoy the game for what it is rather than be worried or on edge. This isn't the best site to type and quit or slowdown gambling, but I need to for my own sanity and to thoroughly enjoy my life. You can still go to a game and enjoy the game for what it is, a simple game being contested between 2 teams. Of course it's going to be more fun with a little scratch riding, but the research, stress, etc isn't worth it.

I've found in recent years that my gambling is as important as my real job which is downright scary! However, when you bet huge amounts, how can it not be VERY important:shrug:

I'm very lucky that my gambling hasn't destoyed me financially and that I still have a family that loves me. I've actually made decent money in 2009. However, I'm at an age where enough is enough.

It is better to accept or be content with what one has than to try to get more and risk losing everything.

Great post. I can remember times when my wife and I would plan to go out to dinner at 6 and there would be 10 minutes left in the game. i would make her stay and wait for the game to finish or if we left i would be driving with one hand on the wheel and the other on my pda checking scores. Gambling can be fun but sometimes it becomes an obession

ive been losing my ass but what she cant stand is when we go out and half the night im checking scores on my phone. its hard to sit still at the movies when i have 2 large on a game

also when i lose i am in a very bad mood and the rest of the night is fuked

how can you make love right after your team loses on the last play of the game

I'll never understand this.. the whole sitting around checking scores thing. The bet is made... tuning in every 5 minutes isn't going to change anything.

I have some friends that do fantasy football and watching the game with them on sunday is fucking depressing. those retards are so busy flipping thru channels and beating off to the stats that they forget to watch the game.

Set a budget and do not go over that amount. My wife absolutely does not care that I bet on games. I also play in the betjam contests which is as much fun as betting. I am very conservative in more ways than one I only bet $25.00 or $20.00 when I want action on a game sometimes I will just bet $10.00 especially parlays. When I bet 50 or 100 I am loving a game, it is very occasionally. I could bet way more, I realized I was never going to make huge amounts unless I became a bookie, which is not happening.

AR- I like the compromise idea except I would have to add college basketball to football for me.I may try that after the final 4. maybe bet two teams in NBA playoffs to win it all and pick some baseball total year wins and wit for football and betting baseball is work if you bet on a daily basis. I just follow my hometown team the Houston Astros, I at least have a rooting interest with no action.

what an awesome topic of conversation

I agree Marine--in addition I would say in most cases--it is good gauge to see if one is betting more than they can afford--especially in win or loss will dictate future wagers that day.

I think the bottom line here is that women aren't stupid. If you try to hide something from them, its only a matter of time until you get found out. And once they realize that you've been deceptive, they'll begin to wonder what else you may be hiding or being deceptive about. There's definitely a snowball effect there. It's certainly not worth risking a relationship over (not a good relationship anyways).

In my instance, Samantha really doesn't like gambling. It worries her. She likes winning but not at the cost of possibly losing. I don't bet much anymore because I learned that I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable. It's not worth it. I'm a very competitive person, so when I do have something on a game, I like to know how that game is going. I really think that stems from being from a family of 3 brothers. In her case, she is an only child and therefore, she just doesn't have that same competitive set of juices that I have.

In the beginning, it was hard to watch sports and have nothing on the game. But over time, that fades away and you enjoy the games....and to be honest, see things a lot more clearly. Chasing bets and trying to grind out profits are just so draining and time consuming.

Good luck in whatever you decide. You have to make the decision though. It doesn't matter how many people on here say what you "should" do.

Mind bets are a great thing. I also run many contests, where many MJer's get in, such as NFL Survivor-NCAA Bowl Challenge-Bracket Contest, where the entry fee is $20, but the payouts can be large enough to fulfill one's needs and keep you in the action so to speak without compromising a relationship. These things give me something to do, especially now that I am single.

For me, most of my bets range from 50-300 depending on whether I do research or just watching for something to do. I agree with what hedge said about a bankroll/budget. Money management is the key though. Set it aside, lose it, and you are done for the week/month/year.

Funny, the only time I feel the need to check scores is if I am getting cracked......

It's easy to understand. It's the action they are addicted to. A bet without watching it unfold does't feed the addiction.

Where it is real F ing COLD
when I was in my early 20s I was betting like 100 bucks per game and I was basically playing with my paycheck. I remember having to borrow money to get me by for the next 2 weeks, that caused a heavy strain on my girlfriend at that time. We were together for 4 years. She used to get so pist, we didn't break up because of that but looking back at that, I don't think I want to go through that again, but I'm glad I pist her off.
I have concealed gambling from girlfriends over the past five years and none of them ever suspected me of it. Now that could say a lot bout the intelligence of some my exes lol Im able to keep and even keel, plus it has been easier because I have better capping skills and I know who to follow on this site. I haven't made a living the past 5 years but I'm way ahead. Now if I was losing my ass I don't think that I would of been able to get away with it.
