I have to file separate taxes for my daughter she is 3, she earned more than 1,400 in 2008. so I owe taxes over 1,400 at my tax rate, so my answer to your question is how much did your little one make? over 1,400 then yes below I do not think you have to file taxes for them

no, I don't think so, it is related to your income if you claim them as a dependent I believe, you might want to ask a CPA though, luckily I have one that does my taxes every year.
