In our local Babe Ruth league we play by national high school rules.

The situation...

In the top of the 7th (last) inning the visitors trail by 4 runs. It's starting to get pretty dark. The visitors score 4 runs to tie the game. Now it's too dark for the home team to bat...both umpires and mgrs agree this is the case.

Question..is the game suspended and finished when the teams play next? Or does the score revert back to last completed inning, because enough innings have been played to be considered an official game.

Is this situation the same as if rains came and wiped out the bottom of the 7th or are these situations handled differently?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the game picks up EXACTLY where it let off.....down to even the pitch count.

5. If a game is called because of weather, curfew, or another reason, it is a regulation game if FIVE innings have been completed, or if the HOME TEAM has scored more runs in 4? innings then the VISITING TEAM has scored in FIVE competed half innings, or if the HOME TEAM scores ONE or more runs in its half of the FIFTH INNING. If the game is TIED, is shall be declared a "SUSPENDED" game.

6. Suspended games will be scheduled at a later date determined by the Board of Directors. The game will be resumed from the point of suspension.

Out of the umpires and coaches hands now - The League Directors should make a call on it - Around here I would say 9 times out of 10 the game will just be suspended and finished the next time the 2 teams are at the complex. Everyone goes ape shit over situations like these - Hope y'all don't get the short end of the stick.
