Updated Record: 55-38 for +54.2 units
Last weekend of the regular season is here. Some schools are starting their weekend series today to allow for an extra day of rest prior to the conference tournaments. Two plays today:
Ole Miss -105 (@ Arkansas) for 3 units ? Arkansas is being given a lot of respect to be favored, even if only slightly and at home, over a top 10 team. They have Dallas Keuchel starting for them tonight who has pitched well lately including taking an unfortunate 2-1 loss last week @ Bama. His stats on the year are a 3.99 ERA; 1.25 WHIP; .277 opponents avg. and 51 K?s in 76 2/3 IP. Ole Miss will start Drew Pomeranz who was roughed up in his last outing but has had a really good season. His stats are a 3.58 ERA; 1.36 WHIP; .247 opponents avg. and 72 K?s in 60 1/3 IP. He?s had double-digit K?s in his last two outings and has the potential for another big outing tonight as Arkansas is a free swing club that has struck out an average of 8 times per game. Ole Miss also has a slight edge in the bullpen and a distinct edge on offense. Tough to go against a gritty pitcher like Keuchel, but there is a lot to like about the Rebels, especially the fact that Arkansas will likely struggle against a good strike out pitcher.
Alabama -180 (@ Auburn) for 3 units ? Auburn?s big strength is their potent offense as they pound out almost 2 HR?s per and have scored 7.2 runs per game despite hitting only .284 as a team. However, Bama trumps them in all offensive categories. Bama averages 2 HR?s a game, 9.3 runs per game and bats .337 as a team. Another alarming stat is the rate of strikeouts per game Auburn averages. They have struck out an average of 10.65 times per game! Auburn needs a lot of offense given that their pitching is simply not good as they have a 6.15 team ERA. Starting tonight for them is Jon Luke Jacobs who has been roughed up in his recent outings and all season long honestly. His stats are a 6.10 ERA; 1.79 WHIP; .310 opponents avg. and 49 K?s in 62 IP. Bama will start Austin Hyatt, who was the opposing pitcher that outdueled Arkansas? Keuchel in that 2-1 game last week. Hyatt has pitched real well this season and has a 3.13 ERA; 0.89 WHIP; .215 opponents avg. and 76 K?s in 89 IP.
GL guys.
