Anybody know how to unlock a T-Moble sidekick?

New provider is westlink a local they share towers with AT&T. The phone worked for 6 months with the new provider then it just locked up.
She got that new google phone & it works but wants her sidekick back. It even locked up my sim card when I put it in the sidekick.

Is this for real :shrug:
