Ummm, of course MTV is going to say it was staged. Hell, everyone here even said it was staged. The discussion is whether or not EMINEM was in on it, and until we see him say he was or wasn't, I choose to believe otherwise.

How would he not be in on it if they rehearsed it?

Yeah this is becoming a lame topic as it is clear either one of two things.
Eminem is being allowed to save face(no pun intended) by them telling everyone he was in on it or he really was.
But why would he not stick around and laugh it up with Cohen like all pranksters do??

Eminem says when he left the show, he went back to his hotel and laughed for three hours, including as he watched the playback.

The rapper calls himself a "big fan" of Baron Cohen, who he said approached him about the gag while he was in Europe.

At Sunday's live show, the comedian descended from the ceiling on a wire in a fake mishap that ended with his bare hindquarters in Eminem's face.
