ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE
Tue Jun 16 2009 08:45:10 ET

On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm!

Highlights on the agenda:

ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.

The network plans a primetime special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.

MORE

Late Monday night, Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to the head of ABCNEWS:

Dear Mr. Westin:

As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform ?town hall? at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC?s web news ?will all feature special programming on the president?s health care agenda.? This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president?s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.

In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.

Respectfully,
Ken McKay
Republican National Committee
Chief of Staff

ABC REFUSES OPPOSITION ADS DURING WHITE HOUSE SPECIAL
Wed Jun 17 2009 15:15:00 ET

ABC is refusing to air paid ads during its White House health care presentation, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, including a paid-for alternative viewpoint!

The development comes a day after the
network denied a request by the Republican National Committee to feature a representative of the party's views during the Obama special.

Conservatives for Patients Rights requested the rates to buy a 60-second spot immediately preceding 'Prescription for America'.

Statement from Rick Scott, chairman of Conservatives for Patients Rights:

"It is unfortunate - and unusual - that ABC is refusing to accept paid advertising that would present an alternative viewpoint for the White House health care event. Health care is an issue that touches every American and all potential pieces of legislation have carried a pricetag in excess of $1 trillion of taxpayers' money. The American people deserve a healthy, robust debate on this issue and ABC's decision - as of now - to exclude even paid advertisements that present an alternative view does a disservice to the public. Our organization is more than willing to purchase ad time on ABC to present an alternative viewpoint and our hope is that ABC will reconsider having such viewpoints be part of this crucial debate for the American people. We were surprised to hear that paid advertisements would not be accepted when we inquired and we would certainly be open to purchasing time if ABC would reconsider."

Just trying to keep everyone informed Dave.

Wouldn't want anyone to think there are no objections to it just because Gumby and media are trying black out any views to contrary.

I just wish he would get on with his ideas right or wrong. And stop with concerns about if those that didn,t vote for him give a chit. SCREW compromise. Move on like BUSH DID. We will take our shots if things don,t work so well.

as I said --just trying to keep those that only watch liberal outlets--updated with the smoke he blows up their ass daily.

Latest--lie he was confronted with--

Less than 24 hours after Heritage Foundation President Ed Feulner questioned the veracity of President Obama?s persistent claim that, under his health care proposals, ?if you like your insurance package you can keep it?, the White House has begun to walk the President?s claim back. Turns out he didn?t really mean it.

According to the Associated Press, ?White House officials suggest the president?s rhetoric shouldn?t be taken literally: What Obama really means is that government isn?t about to barge in and force people to change insurance.?

Now my question is how many times does he get caught flopping/lying till you all recover from the---

I completely missed the substance of that post.

On the "liberal media" point, the "media" is in business. Their only purpose is to sell ads.

I honestly cannot imagine how terminally stupid you would have to be to believe that there is some massive conspiracy among media outlets to advance a liberal agenda. They are in it to make money. But dtb, hedge, skulfvck, weasel, etc... think that there is a leftist cabal that controls our information sources in the name of leftist ideology. It is a well organized secret society that pulls all the strings and has no interest in profit, only forwarding a liberal agenda. Moronic drivel.

Last I checked ABC is owned is Disney.

according to dtb and the rest of the brain trust, ABC and therefore Disney is not out to make money. They are just front companies whose only purpose is to promote liberalism.

Seriously, how fucking stupid do you have to be to believe that?

Liberal media bias is just a convenient excuse for the right when moderates identify more with the platform of the left than the right. They give the media too much credit. I mean "Joe the fucking Plumber" received more coverage than Ralph Nader, Bob Barr, Chuck Baldwin and Cynthia McKinney combined.

You have to admit that every minute "Joe the Plumber" was on TV did not help the GOP. He just showed how empty their party is.

Wow took quick detour from Gumby getting caught being a clueless fck again or serial lier--which ever you prefer--lets bring back his latest pledge/promise.

So let me begin by saying this to you and to the American people: I know that there are millions of Americans who are content with their health care coverage -- they like their plan and, most importantly, they value their relationship with their doctor. They trust you. And that means that no matter how we reform health care, we will keep this promise to the American people: If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period. If you like your health care plan, you'll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.

--but then again Whitehouse says promises and pledges from Gumby can not be taken literally :142smilie
?White House officials suggest the president?s rhetoric shouldn?t be taken literally: What Obama really means is --

--I find it utterly amazing after adding this to grifts of---
-era of responsibilty--pay as we go--no new taxes--for small gov--deficit reduction and the rest of the rhetoric-- you think we'd have a few here that would have came out of their coma's by now. :)

Nothing is set in stone on health care. Why? There is no bill ready yet. It,s all talk at this point. Obama is happy to here all ideas. Even Reb ones. But if all some these folks can do is say lower taxes. There out of ideas.

I have hard time following O's thought trend on most of this health care reform Dave.

Saw him the other day go on about cutting cost by eliminating many test Dr's run that he thought were innecessary then in next statement said he was not for tort reform---and the very reason these test are ran by Dr's is to cover their ass from being sued. WTF

--and can't fathom anyone buying into the more covered the cheaper the cost.

One of biggest mistakes ins co made (per increasing healthcare cost) was years ago when they went away from having to meet deductibles --to 1st $1 coverage with office copays. Where people would think twice from going to Dr for cold--they now went at slightest hint of ailment. Now consider this on national scale and costs being "reduced". Only people getting free healthcare will be the indigent--the rest will pay in spades. Nothing diff than Medicare/medicade fiasco except on much larger scale.

If they have an answer we are not aware of--show us by cleaning up the other gov answers Medicare/Medicade that made same claims once- that they are now trying to make again.

--and we know--the rest of that story!
