I am in the market for a new phone. I have been with Sprint for 10 years. They are offering the Blackberry 8830 and the Blackberry Curve 8330 at a very minimal charge.

If you have any experience with these phones, please offer your opinion.

My place of employment bought me a Blackberry and it sucks harder than Madonna on a chrome hitch ball.

It should be renamed BlackTurd.

I have the Curve 8330 - if you must get one - avoid that one I guess. I really hate it - but it is free so I can't complain too much.......

If you can, pony up the extra cash and get the new Palm Pre. You'll save money over time not having to pay that stupid extra blackberry charge you pay.

I would wait Sprint and Verizon are releasing a new blackberry called the Blackberry Tour (9630)

head over to http://crackberry.com for more info

Most people never use half the functionality of the blackberry. What you need is someone who knows how to use the damn thing show you some tricks.

I have a blackberry and love it, but then again I know how to use the damn thing

I have the Curve 8330 and love it. All around solid phone, if you know how to use it. I have several friends with the same phone and they've had good luck with theirs and enjoy it as well. I've had Windows Mobile phones in the past and will never EVER own another one.

iphone beats the shit out of Blackberry all day long.

It's not a question of how to use it the Blackberry it's the limited functionality and how long it takes to do anything.....searching for emails on the Blackberry is ridiculous and going from one program to another takes longer thnt a smooth, badass iphone. There are apps that are priced too high when a lot of the iphone apps are free or $2.99. People who love Blackberry's haven't ever used an iphone.

Joker, the iPhone is a good phone and I have used one before, never for a long period of time, but thought it was good. I think it would make a fine phone, but that is a matter of opinion. I prefer Blackberry and sorry to hear you had a bad experience with one.

I will say, iPhone or no iPhone, that I have heard the ATT network/service can be challenging at times. Could anyone shed some light on this?

True - it is a matter of opinion.

I will not own an iPhone until they are on another network besides AT&T. I will never give that company another dime. It is simply not worth the hassle.

The Palm Pre looks pretty solid, but I have not used one.

The Blackberry Storm is really nice as well.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
No question that if you had used Verizon while roaming around the country, you will find that AT&T network (iPhone uses) simply sucks.

Many folks who absolutely loved their iPhone had to give it up due to AT&T network problems in thier area. You can find alot of stories like this.

My iPhone user freinds here have no problem tho.

That Palm Pre does look pretty good! Here is Pogue's (NY Times technology guy) review of it.

okay... so i have the blackberry curve 8330 for a 30 day trial period now.

the whole reason for wanting a phone with data service is to be able to place bets online while on the road. well, this damn thing can't do that. it will access the home page of any gambling site, but it won't allow you to log in. maybe it's me, but i will definitely call Sprint about this.

can anyone shed some light into this? can your smart phone access for example 5Dimes or 2BETDSI and actually place a bet?

A lot of these sites are using Flash or Java in the applications used for placing bets and most mobile devices can't run those screens. In fact, I'm not sure there is a mobile device that can.

These companies need to create mobile sites. Hell, I can bank online, type on MadJacks (like I am right now) from my Blackberry but I can't place a bet. Frustrating to say the least.

They are more than likely building mobile-designated apps right now.

Be crazy not to be.

if you don't want to use AT&T but you want an iphone, just unlock it. It's not that hard. My brother is using T-Mobile with his and has no problems.
