Why don't you guys post a youtube clip of a crippled person, too. :)

He has a speech impediment...I hear he is a really good kid and spends a great deal of time with a speech therapist trying to fix that problem.

Bad luck to have something like that.

I remember back around 20 years ago,I had a good basketball player by the name of Donnel S.He was a 6'4 slim build, long arm defensive wiz...nicknamed " polyglocoat" because he stuck to his man like glue on defense.I would assign him to the opposing teams top scorer..of course he was my man/man player when I ran a box and one on defense. He was perfect for it because he could guard a pt gd or a post player.....anyway, we are playing a big game and its televised..the team were playing has a D-1 player already signed to attend Marist...they are heavy favorites and we upset them at there place.Donnel holds there "star" to 11 pts, draws 3 offensive fouls from him.Although he only scores 7 pts he is named " the Player of the game" by the TV announcers for his defense. The game is over and we are all congratulating each other when someone from tv says " we are going to interview Donnel".. I said fine, grabbed Donnel and said "don't say anthing stupid and give the other team credit..be respectful..in 3 weeks we play them again at our place....they interview me after and everything is fine...we get back to school and then I go home...I had taped the game on my vcr so when I got home I watched it.When i watched Donnel's interview I put my head down and realized what an a-hole I am....How could I the coach, teacher and athletic director put this 17 yr old in a position like that.Donell had a small stuttering problem...he had a speech teacher and it was in control..many would not even notice it...any player of mine that mimicked him or made fun of him would only need a stare from me to stop it....Donnel got nervous in the interview,he stuttered and after every few words would say 'Uh"....The next day he was the laughing stock in school..even teachers were making wise cracks being sarcastic....how stupid of me because this was my fault and my fault alone..getting caught up in a big win I lost my focus on whats important...that morning Donnel and I talked...He cried and I cried with him...things were tough because at away games he was taunted...I did go on the PA and apologize but did it in an way to defuse the situation...i learned a life lesson....we lost 3 weeks later to that team we played....but my team went to the state finals that year and Donnel did his magic and held a Syracuse bound star who avg 26 pts a game to 14....in the state semi's.......
In 2006 I get a call at my other school i'm working at...my secretary tells me there must be one of your former players on the phone...it's Donnel.......he is retiring from the Army after 20 years..he was an E-7 now station at fort drum, and wanted to know if I would attend his retirement at fort dix.....I couldn't because it was the same day my daughter was getting married in texas....but he asked me if I had the famos tape...he has 3 kids and a wife and wanted to show them there father was a good basketball player.I told him I would send him the tape. He laughed about the interview..I talked to Donnel last yr..he moved to south carolina, bought a house with his wife and is working.
When I saw that Buffalo player talk I thought of donnel..and what made it so real was " donnel said "sir' to every answer.... hopefully the buffalo pr staff works with this young man..he seems very respectful just like Donnel was

Reminded me of the Lester Hayes interview years ago. I also must add that anyone who would see this for the first time and not know of the gentleman's problem would laugh. Just as he will someday if he overcomes this problem. Nice for Mr. Wilson to mention his problem, but I find very few on here including, Mr.Wilson, correcting racial humor, etc.

Just saying much humor is based on making fun of others. We laugh at the guy who slips on the banana peel till we find out that he's hurt.

buckwheat..lester hayes was probaly the most famos interview....I think everyones 1st reaction is to kinda laugh or make humor of it....I think that is a normal response but then when we think about it and look at it a little bit harder we realize there is more to it...don't forget..I had teachers laughing about Donnel the next morning in the teachers room...John Thompson kept Ewing away from the press for 4 years never allowing an interview..then he gets drafted by the Knicks and cannot speak....When Villanova won the NCAA"s Howard Porter went on TV....was almost as bad as lester hayes....colleges should work with there players on public speaking..I'm sure some do...

You are just making my point, BOX. I think it's honorable for Mr. Wilson to mention Ellis' deficiency but wrong to scold us for laughing about it without us knowing of it. We prejudged Ellis and Mr. Wilson turned around and did the same to us. Hell, I never even heard of the guy.
Not sure if that many on this site remember Lester Hayes, but I know few remember the late Howard Porter whose Villanova team FELL to UCLA in the NCAA Championship game in the early 70's. Nova later had the runnerup title removed because Howard had signed with the pros.
