yeah, me again. i really hate this topic but i want a good mower. i'm tired of the typical garden tractors. a guy cut my lawn with a zero turn 50-some inch cut mower and my lawn looked like camden yards.

any advice or zero turn mowers?

is this one any good?

things to consider..

will you have to bag at any point..

bagging units cost around $600.00

50" will use a 3 basket collection w/ease.

leaves...tall grass[after 3 or 4 day rainout..or are you going cut ,shoot and chew-up..or mulch all the time

do you really need a 50"

it's your lawn so do you really want to layout the cash for the bigger deck size and cut..to save time:shrug:

reason I ask this is because a commerical machine in the long run will serve you better..

a 42 or 47 w/a 20 horsepower engine will shit and get..and stripe nicely also..

if I were you I would consider buying from the local shop...Lows and Homedepot sell a homeowners edition that the likes of Toro and Husqvarna make especially for those outlets.the are not..repeat not..top rated zero's..

you local lawnmower dealer who reps the likes of Toro..Swisher Hustler..Walker...should take good care of you on future repairs..meaning these shops take care of those who purchase from them..a little quicker than you bringing in a machine they do warranty work on but didn't sell to you..

keep in mind..these machines require at least a little tender care..meaning washing them down..oil change at least every 25 hours..air filter every 35-40 hours give or take..depends on the amount of abuse you give them..

I would demand a test drive on your lawn..don't laugh...these machines have been known to be pieces of shit..if the linkage and or tire pressure or shocks are not set right a $3,000.00 to whatever you want to spend can be a rutter...meaning everytime you stop and attempt to zero and stripe the next cut they dig and rut enstead of turning..Trust me..just bought one of those bastards..and have seen it before..

talk to the established lawn cutters around town..stop and say Hi when you see the professionals manicuring an estate..

They can give you the real skinny on which shop in town has the best service and which machines they have found to their liking ..

bottom line..spend about 2 grand more and get a better machine w/bagging unit..

you will be better off down the road..15 years from now when your older ass ain't doing nothing but cutting grass and telling stories..a good machine that you have kept up the "PM" on will still be flying around the house..

feel free to e-mail me ..glad to tell ya anything you want to know about lawnmowers..

and any of the machines that are necessary for proper lawn and estate care..

one advantage of Lowes and homedepot is ..

ya get it home and ya don't like it..

back she goes with cash back.

That Troy has a nice engine w/killer HP..

there will be deals at homedepot and lowes ..they get rid of just about everything taking up floor space because of Christmas for them starts Oct.1...new floor plans are already implemented..

you may find a deal you just can't refuse..

just be a tad cautious

question

what is the trick to the checkerboard stripe ?

how do you get that look ?

I was always thinking when I get one I do not want the bagger thing. What does it hurt to just leave the grass where its cut ?

If you dont let it get too long seems like it would blend in or something. Maybe grow new shoots .
