My friend has tried this nonsense for about a year. Despite his best efforts, he's been able to recruit one whole person to be under him.
To date, nobody (other than themselves) have booked through them. They get a commission of like $1.32 for every deal they book. At least they travel a lot, so they save a bit by virtue of the huge commissions that they receive when they take a trip.
No, that shit isn't a huge waste of time.

Not sure if I'm being lumped in the asshole category, but I am only sharing information.
"Pyramid" has been more closely associated with "Pyramid Scam" as of late, but technically all MLMs are a pyramid structure.
If you can sign up people under you and part of their commissions flows up to you, then it is a pyramid. But not necessarily a scam.
You are correct that pyramids with no products are illegal. But that doesn't mean there still aren't shady/scammy operations out there.
That is where my personal rule of: If you make more money signing people up than you do actually selling a product, then I blanketly judge that to be scammy.
Most of these deals has the pitch of "you can choose one of two tracks; selling product or recruiting" -- if this is a pitch that the company uses then my recommendation is to run far away as fast as you can.

you mentioned herbalife as being involved w/ pyramid scheme................................. HERBALIFE LTD.(NYSE: HLF) _ is a stock i follow...its @ 52 week high around $ 37......the ceo has been on jim cramer' ( cnbc) show a couple of times......is this the same company you were referring to ? the stock is volitale . I believe they are starting to sell there products in china, so lots of hype . thnx for any info.....bish

I know some people that did this, I currently got roped into Juice Plus by my father-in-law but try selling fruit and vegetable extract as a supplement to people, its good stuff, but nobody wants to take it everyday, people say they want to be healthy, but they don't.
