NBA TUE 102709 early thoughts - value hunting

I'm seriously considering taking the Over 183 at -107 right now. There's 2 situations and I'm wondering which everyone thinks is more likely:

1: The total opened at 189 because it's the first night, books don't know what to expect, they're focused on the World Series, NFL, etc.

--or--

2: The total opened at 189 because the books are expecting a high scoring game and everybody is under the impression that these teams are going to come out and shut each other down.

I guess this can be done for every single game but I have a very good friend who is a great capper and took the over at 185.5 because it opened so high. He said if it opened at 182/181 around there it would've been very acceptable. I tend to agree...189? These two defensive minded teams?

im starting to really like the laker over at 202.

boston has a decent shot to cover tonight at +5. one of the few times there may be value on the visiting side in cleveland this year. snagged the under at 187.

dallas -8 is very appealing, maybe too appealing.

i liked houston at 9.5 but dont really feel warm n fuzzy about it esp at 8.5 now. portland is purdy good and houston will have much to show and prove with their whole gameplan changing. no value in the under here imo. maybe over tho.

anyway i really like this laker over. more than bostons under i think.

Man, way too early for me in the season. I just wanted to get back in the groove. Wished I could have gotten in early on the BOS/CLE number. I have a half an hour before the fireworks. LOL

At least there's positive value on the wager if you're looking to play it. Last time I ran the numbers, I think it was $2 value on $100 played 100X. That boils down to bet $10,000 and go home with $10,002. LOL
