Made a post last season about how Danny Ferry had failed to secure a legitimate 1A in his mimicry of the Jordan-led Chicago Bulls roster.

Based on initial impressions, the Cavaliers still lack that player (despite what some may subscribe to, Shaq is NOT going to fulfill that role at this stage of his career) - on occasion, others may step it up, but the failure to have a consistent individual to lean on w/o fail and relieve some of the on-court demands on James doesn't bode well - especially when going up against well-rounded teams.

I'll take that Boss. A W in CLE...damn! The Doxies, all 5, are in bed with mom. I'm in the bat cave, my man room. About ready to hit the new room upstairs for the late game. Got some Aged Cheddar Popcorn with a touch of Garlic powder. Damn, I'm in heaven. That's probably why I need the Tums. LOL We'll be doing some 2H soon enough pal. :)

Man, did you see the minute movements on this number? I saw it jump 1.5 in minutes. I wonder if it settled. I do like this number though. BOL. Just a spectator tonight.

The ability to take early body blows and start to inch away incrementally spoke to the Celtics' veteran resiliency.

What the Celtics did during the offseason reminded me somewhat of what Manchester City Football Club executed during the summer transfer window - brought in established Premiership players who had played at a high level at their respective clubs: Toure, Adebayor, Barry, Tevez, Lescott - some may scoff at the financial largesse spent on these individuals, but instead of cobbling together a roster of could be potentials-in-waiting, MCFC have started brightly this season and have some salivating at the prospect of a top 4 finish (while obviously agitating/irking the frequently boorish Sir Alex Ferguson at Man U).

Wallace may not be a big time player as he once was in Portland and early on in Detroit, but can one really dispute what he brings to the table, especially to a team laden w/ 3 bonafide studs in Allen, Pierce, and a recovering Garnett?

The ability to play off those 3 spells easier baskets for others on Boston - Cleveland's inability to secure proper complementary players for LeBron means that he'll continue to be the focus of the defense and no gimmes for his supporting cast.

Also, thought I'd reply to the post about the Cavs and Rasheed. I am a Detroit native, and I saw what Sheed brings every single night. What Boston got was simply another weapon on offense to stretch the defenses, and a great interior defender for 20 minutes a night. In Detroit, you could see him wearing down by playing 32+ minutes a night. If Boston uses him correctly, and I think they will, he should be an incredible 7th man for them. Boston will hardly lose anything when he comes in to defend the opposing PFs, and he brings a mentality of a battle every night. On offense, he won't go inside. I remember on one pick and "roll" last night, he had a wide open lane to the basket, but instead he floundered around, backed up, and took a 25 footer. He needs to spend more time in the paint, and once he gets more comfortable, I think he will.

On Lebron, I truly don't think they have enough yet to do it. Lebron has finally surpassed Kobe, and I think both of them know it. But Pau, Bynum, and Odom are better than any player on the Cavs outside of him. Shaq can't play more than 22 minutes a night, and Mo Williams is little more than a shooter. I don't doubt that they will win 60 games, but I don't see them getting by Boston, and again, if they do, the Lakers will be waiting.

PS- Anyone take any futures bets? I am thinking about a Spurs winning the West type thing, because I think they have been going under the radar, now that they are fully healthy.

Hey guys still early in the season to do any real capping. Will be around soon with some capping notes..

On another note I have a little action junkie in me and I let it play last night..

a couple of notes..

The first game of the season I have noticed a trend the last few years..

Teams come out very excited and set a pace in the first half that is above their game condidtioning. You will notice that the legs get soft in the second half..

The gambler in me takes the over in the first half and the under in the second half.. I also noticed at half time wait for the under to rise.. The public bet the over based on the first half excitmTent, thinking the over will be a sure hit... books have to respect the publics preception and bait them in...

Tonight I will play this strategy for only the teams that have not played this season... Also any dd dogs will be on the card..... Boston will be on every card until I lose..

AX your team is head and shoulders above everyone.. I see a championship coming back to boston as long as they stay healthy..

I like your early season strategy PG. Keep us posted on its progress.

As far as my team is concerned, I pray you are right cause there's a little excitement in my blood after last night. I also watched the LAL and wondered how the two matched up this season. But you nailed it with health being the determining factor here.

I personally think the LAL have their hands full in the West this year.

Glad that people are back and sorry I'm late on this, but still thought it was worth getting out there for people.

In the first month, look to the under when division rivals are playing each other, and 1 is a double digit home favorite.

I usually look back 3-4 seasons prior to this one. Not a large sample size, but since 2004, o/u 8-20 and 4-13 when the total is 190 or higher.

site=home and line<=-10 and division=o:division and (month=10 or month=11) and season>=2004
