I don't understand why you think this causes laziness. The wheel doesn't power your bike. It's just an alternative to training wheels.
I taught my son with a Trek "Float" that we borrowed from a friend. I think training wheels become a crutch that keep kids from learning how to ride a bike sooner.
The float is simply a bike where the wheels come off so you can learn by getting started with your feet and learning the feel of turning and such.
He learned how to ride over a weekend with this method.
That being said, I think the gyro-wheel in the video will be highly over-priced.
