I absolutely hate Brett Favre. When he was on GB I did not hate him at all. In fact I didn't even dislike him, just thought of him as any other player that I didn't like or dislike. Then he started pulling the retire/comeback shit and just takes it to a new level every year. He is getting to the point where he thinks he is better than the game itself.
I really have no idea why he is still playing. He will NOT win another ring, absolutely no chance of that. Minnesota would be better off bringing along a young QB and letting AP carry the offense.
Favre is an ego maniac. The guy plays his whole career in GB then retires, unretires, gets traded, retires, unretires, and plays for the Packers biggest rival? What a scum bag. He wants to show up the front office in GB for going with Rodgers. The guy is a tool.
To top it off I think Childress is an idiot as well. Some of this guys play calling is absurd. He would rather run WR reverses and double WR reverse passes than just pound the ball with the best running back in the NFL. And whats up with his stupid headset? Why doesnt he have a normal headset like everyone else? Instead he has that god damn thing that looks like hes taking an order at McDonalds.
:sadwave:
With all due respect, there is much wrong with this post. Glad to see the headset addressed in another post. And the QB thing is ridiculous. Clearly, you didn't watch many games when the revolving QB prayer was going on before Favre, or when Jackson was missing receivers left and right. Favre has revolutionized this team, allowing them to use the entire playbook, instead of about half of it before he came along. Jackson WAS a young QB that was given far too many opportunities to succeed.
I think they have been passing far too much, but teams are keying on Peterson, and the line has not been blocking that well. By the same token, run blocking is something you kind of have to get into a rhythm and repeat the runs to take a toll. When they've done that this year it's worked.
I can understand why Childress would want to get Favre out of there last night - Peppers was destroying McKinnie, and then Favre repeatedly. The big concern here is that McKinnie was benched, and I don't think we've heard the end of that. AND, I'm guessing teams are watching those films and figuring it out.
Childress does not call the offensive plays, Bevel does. So, he's not to blame for plays that don't work when they are called. Bevel has done a good job for the most part, but the past couple games it's been very arguable. I think Bevel being good friends with Favre could be an issue in the play calling - they need to commit to the run more, IMO.
They have had defensive issues, with Winfield being out, and now Henderson is out. Winfield looked as bad as I've ever seen him last night, Smith ate him alive. And that rarely happens. And the Panthers exposed the backup MLB rookie, and other teams will surely try that too.
They need to keep a tight end in more to help in protection, they need to establish the run more, and they'll need to make some defensive adjustments and I think blitz more than they have been.
But they are in the playoffs, are still a very good team, and have a chance to advance to the Super Bowl. Would not call them favorites by any means, but who is these days, from one week to the next? Cowboys beat the Saints after being written off. Saints escaping barely before that. Indy scraping by after falling behind nearly every game. It's up in the air, IMO, and the Vikes are in the mix when they play well. As are several teams.
