Well buddy was that a great team effort or what. Ferentz is a good bowl game coach-his kids are always ready to play in one. 1 GT offensive TD and basically shut down their running game. Stanzi just gets the job done. And all I have been reading here is he B10 sucks, Iowa is overrated--but the final line is Iowa wins! Keep me informed of he off season fb talk.

And to think that I was scared of the line movement heading into the game. Congrats:toast:

Hawkeye - Congrats my friend, that was a good game. Although not expecting many points, I was looking forward to the matchup to see how Iowa would do against the option. Many remarked about how a rushing team would play into the hands of Iowa's D, but I wondered about speed.

Speed can be contained by playing smart disciplined defense against the option, something Mizzou and Houston need to learn. You have to maintain assignments and not get over agressive and they did just that.

By far, IMHO, the best coaching job Ferentz has done in his tenure at Iowa. Somewhat surprising considering the last cpl of years. I still maintain his calling is in the NFL, but if he doesn't go, Iowa needs to lock him up because I just don't know who could do more with less.

Congrats:toast:

Hopefully the clueless that think the Big-10 sucks will still think that way next bowl season and we can clean up again.
You give Ferentz and Parker a month to prepare for a one-dimensional offense and you will see the same results as last night every time.
And my man Adrian Clayborn was a beast--just as I said he would be in Cie grant's bowl thread---that sound you are hearing is my arm breaking from me patting myself on the back for the excellent analysis there...:142smilie
And I totally forgot about Iowa playing at Illinoy last night in hoops--we should be able to make a ton of $$ fading their sorry asses all hoops season.

Ferentz is under contract through the 2015 season at approx 2.85 mil a year. he has always said he wants to be in one place until his kids all finish High School and this deal will allow that to take place. Will he take a shot at the NFL then? Who knows? But by then he will be pushing 60 years old and does he really want to chase some more $$ only to get fired in 3 years? I think he signs an extension in a couple of years taking his deal through the 2020 season and then he and the AD Barta will work on a sucession plan to ease the transition to a new head coach.

The thing that I like about him, is that he doesn't seem to have a huge ego as to that he has to go to the NFL, or something of the sort.

Big 10 did do well, but at 4-3, I wouldn't think that one would have "cleaned up" on the Big 10:shrug:

I think we are all learning that there were just a bunch of solid football teams this year, with every little separation which makes for a good bowl season. Other than the PAC-10, I would say all the other BCS conferences were pretty good. Big East was better than expected, ACC was average or a little below, but parody is creeping in and I for one, think it is fantastic for those of us wanting at the very least, a plus one.

Congrats on the Hawkeyes Reds

Just ordered a 94 jersey for next year. Congrats to Hawkeyes! Frankly, we dominated that game last nite........Big 10 can cock off about this season as our 3 of our top 4 reps pretty much controlled their games.... and PSU got it done as well.

If you wanna mess with a Hawkeye, best learn to fly!

Clayborn is coming back-right? Where is he from? Weghner looked good also for a freshman

And Robinson is a freshman, too, and should be completely healthy next season. Iowa has to replace the LBs on defense and a couple of O-linemen, but all the skill guys on offense return. And all those tough games that were on the road this season are home games next year--next year could be a special one for the Hawkeyes...GO HAWKS!

Thanks harly--as I have read your posts I have found you to be one of the most knowledgeable college football fans at MJ's. I will look forward to picking your brain next year. Who do you like in the Tex/Ala game?
