Lets assume he makes 100000 a year. He was supposed to be paid on 26 weeks this year which is 3846 biweekly. He was only paid 25 weeks at this number and instead will have 27 checks of 3703 coming in 10. (3703 X 27) + (3846 X 25)= 196150. It should equal 200000 if it is so simple no:shrug:

This is how I have read it the whole time, if this is not what is going on then f-it I am done trying to figure it out.

1. I posted a source online from an organization involved with accounting stating that in a year with 27 pay periods the paychecks are lowered to account for the extra pay period

2. That post was called out because it referred to 2009 and not 2010

3. The point is that regardless of what year we are talking about, if there are 27 pay periods it is correct to lower the pay over the course of the extra check

4. The year is irrelevant. There can be 27 pay periods in many years depending on the day of week checks are disbursed.

Duh

27 pay periods only happen on a cycle and since you have pointed out that I am not real good at math let me just say that it happens less often than leap years do.

Hope that helps, or at least points you in the right direction to find some irrelevant desktop memo from 1997 to tell me I know nothing about it. Cheers:shrug:

UGA - thanks , that is a better way. Only thing is Cie wasn't there the whole year so isn't that easy to illustrate.

Okay. I need to apologize to Cie Grant. I was wrong. You were right. I physically ran the pay periods and numbers and from my calculations you will be shorted around 3% (as you so correctly put in your first post)

My apologies.

oh mommy.......

here we go

Can't we all just get along :sadwave:

and :sadwave: Cie's pay :(

I'm good. 3.8% can be made up elsewhere, or, as BBC mentioned, I can always work 3.8% less. I know my wife would dig that.

Just to kill the debate, here's the math to prove it:

Assumptions for our example:
Salary: 52,000/year
Start Date: 11/7/2009
End Date: 2/24/2011 (just to show overlap over 3 years)
Total Weeks Worked: 34 weeks, total pay should equal 68,000.

Date.....Pay period.....Pay

2009

11/20.....11/7-11/119.....2,000
12/4.....11/20-12/3.....2,000
12/18.....12/4-12/17.....2,000

2010

1/1.....12/18-12/31 1925.93
1/15.....1/1-1/14
1/29.....1/15-1/28
2/12.....1/29-2/11
2/26.....2/12-2/25
3/12.....2/26- 3/11
3/26.....3/12-3/25
4/9......3/26-4/8
4/23.....4/9-4/22
5/7.......4/23-5/6
5/21.....5/7-5/20
6/4.....5/21-6/3
6/18.....6/4-6/17
7/2.......6/18-7/1
7/16.....7/2-7/15
7/30.....7/16-7/29
8/13.....7/30-8/12
8/27.....8/13-8/26
9/10....8/27-9/9
9/24.....9/10-9/23
10/8.....9/24-10/7
10/22.....10/8-10/21
11/5.......10/22-11/4
11/19......11/5-11/18
12/3.......11/19-12/2
12/17......12/3-12/16
12/31.....12/17-12/30

2011

1/14.....12/31-1/13 2,000
1/28.....1/14-1/27
2/11.....1/27-2/10
2/25.....2/11-2/24

Total 2009 Salary: 6,000
Total 2010 Salary: 52,000
Total 2011 Salary: 8,000

Total Salary over the employment: 66,000. Total salary owed: 68,000.

Of course your % will differ on salary.

I would certainly fight this. Best of luck.

Do you remember when Jack called you out for being a jerk?

sure dude. you reminded me of it last night too i believe. my dad died of a heart attack recently and today would have been his 67th birthday. not excuses but also not the best time in my life at the moment. i've apologized for it before no need to over and over.

I guess I should fight it, huh:shrug: For now, I'm gonna wait until I bring my w-2 and last few stubs to my accountant later in the month.

If you used a simple example like the one I posted and put it on a spreadsheet, I don't see how they can refute it
