Asked you if you would take all the calls and do all the paperwork starting this summer... Imaging that you are single without kids?? ABout 70 - 100 clients..

Seems like a lot of time and phone carrying.. I guess for me it would depemd on how much $$$ I made.. I think it would have to be worth more than 10%

At the same time it would be a great way to fade...

lol.....

lol.....

My buddies use to do this in college. It was a joke, they would make +/-7-8k a weekend. Once they got all their money together they would take the +/-10% profit they made and bet it on one of the next weeks games. So they ended up having nothing or a whole lot. All of the money on one game. Those were fun times. Eventually the cops started sniffing around, and they shut down house but they never spent any time in jail.

That would put you on the hook with the feds.

Good friend of mine had to testify against one of his good friends in federal court. This guy was a runner for a big gambling ring and my friend bet through him. I can assure you they were not fun times for him. They (FBI) had his phones tapped and had videoed him going in and out of this bar to settle up every week.

I used to take calls for a buddy of mine who had about 5 guys who bet through him, who then passed the bets on to a book. Unless you have a lot of extra time on your hands and want to possibly experience the inner workings of the federal court system, go for it, but I wouldn't do it.

Sounds fishy to begin with, but maybe the guy just wants to take time off and doesn't get a lot of baseball action. Where you can get into big trouble with FEDS is if there are 5 or more people in the gambling ring (RICO act) and if it involves interstate gambling. Some states "booking" is merely a misdemeanor and a victimless crime. There is also something called a FEDERAL GAMBLING STAMP which protects you somewhat with FEDS, but I'll let someone else research that and explain it.

Exactly what I thought,, why would a local want to do that.. If they are making enough money they would make the time?? Plus, you have to put a lot of trust into someone to do this for you.. Very fishy... At the same time there are bigger operations that never get into trouble.. Wouldn't know.. Just asking

Conspiracy is where the RICO act gets involved. I even think it was originally put it place to crack down on gambling and possibly drug dealing operations and has been expanded to cover other group involvement in crimes.

Not that I would do this, but why don't you make a generic website (site where you place bets for fun) and let people put their bets on it.. only people that know it is real is you and the bookie.

This is simple. Look at moving this offshore through any of several sportsbooks. They provide lines and call support as well as web pages for a small %.
