I loved the speech,

I saw more Repub standing and clapping than I have in a long time.

When Obama said that having the majority in the Senate shouldnt mean that you can just say no to everything.

Thats what I been saying for over a year. Thats not goverment . Thats not common sense. Its stupidity .

They are not working for America , they are working for their own selfishness.

Its pathetic.

Great speech. Inspiring. Uplifting.

Your correct Scott not 1 let me be clear--must be his old speech writer he recalled--but was correct on the rest--of course so would have any 5th grader who follows the news.

Ok lets
see if he still has his ole razzel dazzel with the rhetoric--or has reality taken over.

CNN poll had less than half having very positive response- FOX -- He's clearly taking the country in the wrong direction 79% (22,852 votes)

Hmm there getting a little smarter or either thet are wising up on the rhetoric/grifts/cons

Lets see--even his right arm the AP press can't give him pass any more--
FACT CHECK: Obama and a toothless commission

-a few of them
The GRIFT: Discussing his health care initiative, he said, "Our approach would preserve the right of Americans who have insurance to keep their doctor and their plan."

THE FACTS: The Democratic legislation now hanging in limbo on Capitol Hill aims to keep people with employer-sponsored coverage ? the majority of Americans under age 65 ? in the plans they already have. But Obama can't guarantee people won't see higher rates or fewer benefits in their existing plans. Because of elements such as new taxes on insurance companies, insurers could change what they offer or how much it costs. Moreover, Democrats have proposed a series of changes to the Medicare program for people 65 and older that would certainly pinch benefits enjoyed by some seniors. The Congressional Budget Office has predicted cuts for those enrolled in private Medicare Advantage plans.

THE GRIFT: "Because of the steps we took, there are about 2 million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed. ... And we are on track to add another one and a half million jobs to this total by the end of the year."

THE FACTS: The Congressional Budget Office has been much more guarded than Obama in characterizing the success of the stimulus plan. In November, it reported that the stimulus increased the number of people employed by between 600,000 and 1.6 million "compared with what those values would have been otherwise." It said the ranges "reflect the uncertainty of such estimates." And it added, "It is impossible to determine how many of the reported jobs would have existed in the absence of the stimulus package."

THE GRIFT: He called for action by the White House and Congress "to do our work openly, and to give our people the government they deserve."

(Can't believe he would attempt any adjective remotely resembling transparency. :)

THE FACTS: Obama skipped past a broken promise from his campaign ? to have the negotiations for health care legislation broadcast on C-SPAN "so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies." Instead, Democrats in the White House and Congress have conducted the usual private negotiations, making multibillion-dollar deals with hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and other stakeholders behind closed doors. Nor has Obama lived up consistently to his pledge to ensure that legislation is posted online for five days before it's acted upon.

THE GRIFT:: Drawing on classified information, he claimed more success than his predecessor at killing terrorists: "And in the last year, hundreds of al-Qaida's fighters and affiliates, including many senior leaders, have been captured or killed -- far more than in 2008."

THE FACTS: It is an impossible claim to verify. Neither the Bush nor the Obama administration has published enemy body counts, particularly those targeted by armed drones in the Pakistan-Afghan border region. The pace of drone attacks has increased dramatically in the last 18 months, according to congressional officials briefed on the secret program.<FORM id=new-comment-form class=leave-comments-form method=post action="" sizcache="196" sizset="79" jQuery1264681583074="40">

SEPT 10th

"I can make a firm pledge," he said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. "Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not yourincome tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."

Last night-- "And we haven't raised income taxes by a single dime on a single person. Not a single dime."

one half truth--and about 20 lies if you substitute word tax for fee.

And, for the record, I don't think unions should be able to use member dues to pay for political campaigns, if I have a problem with corporations doing it. But I certainly don't think letting more money into the process is a positive thing, and this is one of the reasons I voted for Obama - to ensure against a further lopsided Supreme Court - which doesn't serve ANY of our best interests. We've now seen what a 5-4 majority can do, let alone a 6-3 or more...

Can anyone explain to me why they think the recent Supreme Court ruling is a positive thing to each of us as an individual? I'm sure there are good reasons, I just don't see them yet. Especially if you complain about politicians being bought and only being in their positions for personal gain, eventually.

What amazing is how corporations even got rights. Its not in the constitution. They have more rights than people. Its unreal. I could rant for hours on corporations.

Psst Gumby---You got to give it a day or 2 to play these cons--I believe even Scott can smell this one :)

Not 2 days after his rants on fighting deficit--cutting back spending--The Gumby clan rushes back in middle of the night to raise debt before the reb gets seated--
-again Dems get the 60 they need--bringing up the question--is there a such thing as a moderate dem?

Senate permits gov't to borrow an additional $1.9T
Jan 28 12:26 PM US/Eastern
By ANDREW TAYLOR
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Democratic-controlled Senate has muscled through a plan to allow the government to go a whopping $1.9 trillion deeper in debt. The party-line 60-40 vote was successful only because Republican Sen.-elect Scott Brown has yet to be seated. Sixty votes were required to approve the increase. The measure would lift the debt ceiling to $14.3 trillion. That's about $45,000 for every American.

Out of curiousity did anyone remotely believe the king of spenders REALLY intended to cut spending--

You need to consider his answer to everything is spend more--

--want to sell cars
-pay the people $4,000 to buy them

--want to sell houses
--pay them $8,000 to buy one

-want to raise employment
--pay business $5,000 per man to hire people.

Bottom Line--He's attempting to run gov like he ran his own personal finance-
-The question--is there a Rezko to bail us out-

So, you are calling tax credits and incentives nothing more than a payoff? Reducing people's taxes while motivating them to spend money, make purchases, and enter into large purchases is something different now than in conservative plans? I've seen you on countless occasions sing the praises of tax credits and incentives, when it was for things you deem worthy. Now as a way to spur the economy, get people to buy cars, houses and help small businesses hire workers - which helps unemployment and creates jobs - it's a bad thing?

Did you see Ford Motor Company's last quarter? Pure success, and part of that HAS to be from the Cash for Clunkers program you call out. The Country GDP just out shows the economy growing at the largest clip in many years - these credits and plans have to be a part of that. And you guys bitch about jobs being the most important thing - he comes out with a plan for it, and it's nothing but something to find fault with.

Carry on...

Bin Laden blasts US for climate change

CAIRO (AP) - Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming, according to a new audiotape released Friday.

In the tape, broadcast in part on Al-Jazeera television, bin Laden warned of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring "the wheels of the American economy" to a halt.

He blamed Western industrialized nations for hunger, desertification and floods across the globe, and called for "drastic solutions" to global warming, and "not solutions that partially reduce the effect of climate change."

Bin Laden has mentioned climate change and global warning in past messages, but the latest tape was his first dedicated to the topic. The speech, which included almost no religious rhetoric, could be an attempt by the terror leader to give his message an appeal beyond Islamic militants.

The al-Qaida leader also targeted the U.S. economy in the recording, calling for a boycott of American products and an end to the dollar's domination as a world currency.

"We should stop dealings with the dollar and get rid of it as soon as possible," he said. "I know that this has great consequences and grave ramifications, but it is the only means to liberate humanity from slavery and dependence on America."

He argued that such steps would also hamper Washington's war efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The new message, whose authenticity could not immediately be confirmed, comes after a bin Laden tape released last week in which he endorsed a failed attempt to blow up an American airliner on Christmas Day

Gee Chad I didn't know Ford was bailed out.
It was GM and Chrysler--That the Grifter fucked all the stockholders (we the people) so he could bail em out with (we the peoples) tax dollars --and GIVE companies to his union cronies who were responsible in the 1st place..
-

--sorry-its just that I don't think paying people to buy cars-to buy houses--to hire people will have much more effect than extending unemployment for 99 weeks does on enticing them to look for work--but thats just me. :)

However they all get an A on tax/spend social engineering.
