It was Gina's time AR. I've been through this as well. Be strong for the wife and try to make the best out of today and the days to follow. 13 wonderfull years to look back on.

So sorry for your loss AR.

You and your wife must have so many beautiful memories you've shared with your loved one. I know you've probably seen this before, but if you can get through the tears it does give you comfort.

The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of man and woman do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and they play,

Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over? together.

Prayers to you and your wife my friend.

"the bunker"
that`s a crusher,brother....i know it`s of no solace whatsoever, but it happened rather quickly....not sure whether that`s a blessing or a curse...guess it depends on the person...

just got finished shoveling snow...yesterday,last night and today...the neighbors lab was outside running all over the place...... having a ball...the guy trears that dog like a child...and for normal people, that`s how it should be....

i`ve been giving a diabetic pet insulin shots for close to 6 years...twice a day....watching them afterward to make sure they don`t throw up their food and go into diabetic shock....

it`s rough,but wouldn`t trade a minute of it...

take care partner...i know you and the wife are hurting...

edit:something`s wrong with me...i keep keying "no" for "know"...

I have been there myself, horrible experience. Dogs are the best, they are always there for you. Unconditional love and are always there to cheer you up. When they die you see just how special they are. Most of the time dogs are better then people.

Hang in there.

In the shadows
Heartbreaking, crushing story

I had a Queensland healer jump out
of my truck window and I ran over her,
I had to break her neck to finish it.
I am still bothered by it, and that was 5
years ago.

Fill the void with another loving slobbering
pooch.

Very sorry to hear this. It doesn't take long for dogs to become members of the family. Hang in there...

Al, so sorry to hear this. I know this has to be incredibly difficult for you and your wife, and I wish you the best in dealing with it. We have a 9 year old golden, and my best friend just lost his after 10 years. It will be a very dark day when our family has to go through it.

Take care, my friend, and know that you made your friend very happy.

Sorry to hear about your loss AR, it's a painful thing to go through the loss.
I had to put my best friend down on
July.28/2008, after 13 years together. It was the toughest thing I think I've ever had to do. I tried to be the tough guy everyone thinks I am and not show my emotions, but I cried.
I told my wife we'd never own another dog, just didn't want to go through that pain ever again. Exactly one year to the day I got a tattoo on my side right where my ribs are, it says my dogs name, date he was born and the date he was put down with a script "forever in my heart, always by my side".
3 months after that my wife convinced me we need another dog, which we got from a rescue kennel. She is a wonderful dog and loves us to death.
Dogs are a wonderful gift, enjoy the time you have with them.

AR,
Sorry to hear of your loss. The unconditional love you get from your best friend will be missed, but may she always hold a special place in your heart. As a animal lover myself, I feel your pain.

Wish the best for you, Blaster
