The people that need to read this probably will never see it. That's the ones that come to Jack's for the first time, tomorrow, next week, or next year. What made me come to Jack's was back when he was posting winners on other sites and one of the moderators mentioned that he was starting his own site. There was only a handfull of guys back then but they were not only really good cappers but great guys to capp with. IE worked his butt off. There wasn't a stat question you could ask that he couldn't answer in five min. You didn't have Covers or Stat Fox so IE was about it. Thank you IE. Pay Services became big and we lost some really good guys that went that route. Some of them would come back and post a play or two just to help out. They couldn't mention they had a pay service. That was a no-no. So much for history. Here's the point of this story.

Jack's is not a competition, nor is it a ego trip. It is and always has been a joint effort by most of us to see that the rest of you don't go broke betting sports. The fact that we have survived playing everyday for the number of years we've been around should tell you something. It's none of your business how much money we put on a play and call it a unit. It could be 25 stars or 25 units, what's the difference. What's the big deal if a capper mis-states his record. If it's on purpose you will know it soon enough. If it was an accident he don't deserve a bunch of crap over it. In most cases you were lucky he posted to start with. Three or four times a year, in every sport, there's someone new that comes on here seemingly to find something wrong with the site or someone. And to show their ignorance, they choose to pick on one of the older more respected cappers. Don't they find it odd that none of the people that's been on here for a while ever goes on another thread and finds anything but good to say? If you don't have something positive to add, stay out of the thread.

This is the best site I've seen and I've seen a lot of them. Let's keep it that way.

"If you don't have something positive to add, stay out of the thread."

exactly.

y'know, such a simple, basic concept...

why some choose to spread negative vibes...
going into someone else's thread and bringing conflict, ridicule, abuse, blame, I-told-you-so's....

Waste..
of..
Time..

nothing good or positive comes of it.

and there's already enough negatives in the world right? read the paper.

We're not always all going to be on the same side of a game, but nobody needs comments about how "I was right and you were wrong" in their thread, ever.
Trust me, people know when they lose a game... no reminders necessary.
That's just rude.

so let's root for each other people. or politely hold your thoughts to your own thread.

great post joe! always a class act.

What annoys me about false records, particular by "popular" posters, is the influence their selections have on the masses. I know I lost good $$ tailing plays on gambling sites in the late 90's. Had those dicks not lied about their record, my dumb ass wouldn't have had the desire to go with their stuff over my own. While the responsibility was clearly mine, I feel there is no room for those who post false records.

very well put, gsp.......... Jack runs a top-notch site here and i for one really appreciate it..... the bashers come and go, but none of the respected folks here ever go that route. they keep it positive, try to help others, and share their opinions...... Matt

I would question how much the poster who I know posts false records is helping. I think he is in here to either garner momentum to go tout, or he is simply lying for the attention. I am leaning to the latter since he's been here for a little while now. Either way, helping doesn't fit into the equation. If you are going to keep track of your record(which is not a requirement), you should keep it accurately. Otherwise, you are deceiving the unsuspecting into taking your posts more seriously than they should.

i've come to cappers heaven:mj07:
no, seriously...this is THE ONE out of too many sites or forums... that REALLY stands out ....here are people with different ablilities and plenty of skill and often you can verify their almost unheard of accuracy ...if you have the time and patience ...you'll be another winner in the long run:toast:

I agree with everything that you said GSP. But I also agree with Cie. I have been doing this as a hobby for 10+ years now. I have lost a lot more than I have won, but like I said it is a hobby and I think there is a huge learning curve so I am always hoping for better results to come in the near future. :mj07: I personally use this site to follow along with who is good or hot. I like to see a poster put up a record so I instantly know if the guy is worth my time. I appreciate the time it takes for the serious hard core cappers to come up with their plays plus take the time to share them with us hangers on.
I like following the guys who keep the accurate record and seem to have a proven strategy. You for one GSP is a guy I always check to see who you have. You are solid and it comes with no chest thumping or BS. There are many others who are worth our time as well. I think a guy like Thunder is a good capper, but for a small timer like myself, I can't hang that many plays out there like he does. I just don't have the roll or the balls to do it.
I find it a little dis-heartening that guys like PittViper come in here and have a good run then start his own site and announce his pay intentions. He obviously used this site and a few others to garner the attention for his pay endeaver, but without the run he went on it wouldn't have mattered. There is probably an entire new group of people here that don't even know that Thunder, Raymond, & Steel City did the exact same thing a few years ago. I also find it interesting that a few of the known touts here at MJ's come in here and toss out a few freebies everyday. Is that out of pure kindness or an advertisement/endorsement of what its like at their pay site? Sorry for the long rant, this is the best site I have come across and enjoy reading most of the cappers perspectives on how to make money doing this.

I've been here since about the beginning. There are some other sites out there that have excellent information...this one does also...but no site even comes close to the comradery and member interaction we have here...It's unique. Going thru a sporting season without MJs would be like going from color 'back to' black & white. There's a ton of experience here and some sharp young dudes to (I consider the 30s young)...the only thing that can really do a man in is his own arrogance.

Totally agree with everything you said gsp, including the part about records. If you are going to follow someone and let them do the work and hadicap so you don't have to, you could at least keep track of their record and not rely on them to do everything for you.
