you people just dont get it. here is the official definition of marriage.

The state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law

Any law that recognizes only opposite sex marriages is, by definition, discriminatory in nature, thus should be ammended to allow equal rights to all American citizens regardless of race, creed or sexual orientation.

Do you, or anyone else on the site, feel that you are more deserving of all basic civil rights and liberties than homosexuals? If so, please explain why homosexuals do not deserve the same rights as heterosexuals?

Cie, I'm in full agreement with you on this one. I am a little surprised that no-one has responded to your question with all of the opinionated folks here. I know there are many who feel strongly against same sex marriage but, religious argument aside, there is no valid justification. So much for separation of church and state.

it really doesn't matter what the law says anymore, does it? We have judges being appointed to the 9th Circuit Court who believe the Constitution and Bill of Rights are living and breathing documents and are old antiquated documents and they need to adjust to the times. As long as the adjust to the times as they see fit to meet their Social Darwinistic Agenda. I really don't care if Gays and Lesbians marry. But, the far left agenda is deeper rooted than just this issue. The pot is boiling, far too many are going thru life and continue to be a passenger, it's easy to fall in line and stay in a coma.

Marriage should be a civil right, two humans, draw the line there. We don't need to open it up to the real weirdos in Berkley who want to marry trees and flower pots.

We can't allow the Constitution and Bill of Rights to be re-written by these revisionists, but it's a slippery slope with these hard core far left leaning left courts.

if you are gay you should not be able to get married, unless its to a person of the opposite sex. Why do you people think its okay for two same sex friends be able to marry.

marriage is a contract between one man and one woman, you will never convince me otherwise:shrug:

I know you are not especially bright, but please try to catch up, Hedge.

Societies, and their rules, evolve. All women and blacks were unable to vote until the 20th century. Slavery was legal in the 19th century. These changes were made in the name of equality.

So should homosexual rights, and until then all of the All men are created equally business is nothing more than a sham.....

what question? I think I have answered enough

I wish someone with a deeper intellect would have answered these questions. I will never again attempt to engage in any meaningful exchange with you, as it is clearly a waste of time.

Up until the Supreme Court decision in 1967 (Loving vs. Virginia), biracial marriage was illegal. Do you believe that the law was right before it was overturned? If not, why not? If so, what makes same-sex marriage different?

You state that every person has rights. Do you believe that every person has the same rights or are some people more equal than others?

I, too, am surprised. Maybe no one has a legitimate argument that does not include religion:shrug:

Better yet, maybe everyone agrees with us:SIB

I find it funny how he talks about legalities when it ONLY BENEFITS his agenda or ideas.. Yet at the same time I believe gambling is illegal and then he bitches about getting a ticket running a red light.. Both are illegal.
