PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Just got back from the appt. which turned into 3 appts. 7:00 AM appt, the good felt around my jaw, inside and out. Told me it was the parotid thqat was the issue, but needed a scan to verify it not having a mass or a blockage etc. (He milked it was well and saw saliva come out, clear.) BUt he wanted another CT scan done. (He hoped I could get in today, and then come back and see him.)

I got the CT Scan with contrast done, drove back to wait for the results... after a couple of hours he said I still don't have them. I will call you on your cell as soon as they call me. (He was on his way to a lunch appt.) He called on my drive home, and he said the Dr. saw no mass in the parotid, lymph node was extremely swollen, but still believes it was bacteria from the tooth that had the canal done. He told me to take Clindamyacin 300mg (4 a day for 10 days) to battle the presumed infection and to enjoy the trip! Great news! He said I should still follow up with him when I get back, but no concerns for now...

Saint, what are your thoughts? If no visible abscess, and endo and original dentist didnt see one, where did the bacterias come from to begin with? Or is it that it can't be seen?

So far ecstatic with the news, and thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!!! I hope the follow up in 2 weeks is just as good! I made a deal with God, that I need to clean some things up a bit, but well worth it!!!

Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers!!!

Glad to hear things went well, had a feeling from your description it was the parotid.

It's possible that even though the endo was done (root canal) there could be some residual bacteria. Take the clindamycin and it should clear up. If the tooth flairs up again it may possibly need a retreat. Clinda was the appropriate antibiotic in this case so that was a good call.

Like I said my parotid flaired up for no good reason. The antibiotics should clear things up and hopefully you will have no more issues. If you do then the tooth needs to be looked at again or at least the others to rule out other sources of infection.

Emotional as it sounds, this was still a catharsis!!!

Hey, man, just saw this. Very happy for you - seems you and I have been through some of the same stuff of late, but this takes it to another level. After all the family members and friends who have dealt with cancer over the past five years or so, I completely understand your concern and fear. I also tend to think the worst until proven otherwise - my nickname is often Eyore, in times like these. The possible downside is traumatic and frightening, the upside just gets you back to normal. Wish I could have chimed in earlier, but very happy to see positive early reports.

I agree, use this to become stronger and more positive about life in general. Make life more special. I was thinking about this thing today, for other reasons. Congratulations, and prepare to enjoy a beautiful Minnesota spring and summer! :00hour
