I've never pulled the fire ring so I will do that today. I clean the bottom out damn near everytime and I make sure there's no ash in the leftover coal by stirring it up real good before adding more.

Clean by taking out fire ring next up. :0008

Yeah - be VERY careful though - you drop it and it cracks or breaks - $$$$$$$

Take the fire box out as well.

And take out the metal grate. Should do the trick.

Can hit balls for free at driving range--if I just want to hit balls--or can practice sand shots chipping and putting for free at course--I do those freebees when I'm not playing.:)

I been thinking about this and trying to think if our family ever went anywhere to eat out. We always had lots bbq frog/fish frys with other families but as far as going out to eat--bout only thing I can remember is church had annual pan cake jamboree that father worked at each year.
Can't ever remember going to restaurant.

Took my wife to a hundred dollar dinner for our anniversary. Spectacular food, but tons of douchebags making up the clientele. I was served the best sushi I have ever eaten, and I definitely want to go back in the future. Jess really liked it too, and we had fun.

I figured out a long time ago the stove is only a piece of furniture, color coordinated with the other things in the kitchen.

Was reading Jokers thread on DC and restaurant recommendations --and wondering if any shared this tendency.

Anytime (very few) that I eat out at expensive restaurant--I look at the menu and consider--
I can have item A tonight or I get up and go to krogers and get 5 lbs of ribeyes and 5lbs king crab and have as good or better meal for entire week.

Of course you do that - you are a no-fun cheapskate.

Dogs, I think it is called the Gamblers Edge. We are always looking for an edge in gambling and sometimes it carried over into life. HMMMM I can buy the tuna for $1.25 today but it always goes on sale for a buck. It kills me to buy it for a $1.25. Yet I will put 50 bucks on the Stupid Bruins because nobody can lose 4 in a row, at home, after being up 3 to 0 in games! That was my edge. But oh yeah Stevie boy save the 25 cents on the tuna.

although I will never make sushi, I will always go out and buy it and I will never age porterhouse steaks in a dry room for 27 days. I don't even have a dry room.

I also like going out and eating - and not having to do the dishes - or the wife for that matter.

That's the point I would emphasize. I like to try restraints that serve food I would never be able to, or never even have conceived of making.

Also you have to remember eating out at a nice restaurant is an experience. The service, the presentation (food as art). Sometimes it's hard to eliminate distractions such as TV, kids, dogs or whatever at home, so a nice restaurant can be a nice change of scenery.

Guess I'm in the minority, I don't do the calculations.

I do think I can cook as good a steak or better than the top steakhouses at home. There are times I feel like being at home.

There are also times where it's just nice to get out, have someone serve you, and not have to clean up. The wife and I are foodies, we don't do it as often with a child now but we really enjoy the experience of a great meal. Our only rule is that the menus don't get opened, not even for an appetizer, until our first cocktail has been bottomed.
