Celtics Player's Stepdad Shot With Taser At Game

Buie Charged With Resisting Arrest With Violence

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The stepfather of a Boston Celtics player was shot with a Taser gun and arrested at Tuesday night's Game 2 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals in Orlando.

Willie Lorenzo Buie, of Orlando, is the stepfather of 28-year-old Boston Celtic Marquis Daniels, said David Bigney, who is Buie's attorney.

Daniels was also a basketball player at Edgewater High School.

In a telephone interview, Buie and a woman who answered the phone said Orlando police officers were out of line by the way he was treated during the incident.

Bigney said Buie was involved in a verbal argument with Orlando Magic fans, and things may have gone a bit too far.

Buie said he was the one who was abused when police removed him from Section 106 and attempted to take him to a security office at the Amway Arena.

A police report indicated Buie resisted arrest, began throwing his arms around, cursed and acted violently before he was shocked with a Taser gun in the back while lying on his stomach and refusing to be handcuffed.

Bigney said Buie was not the one causing trouble.

"We just know that they were taunting him because of his loyalty to his son's team, and the Celtics, obviously at that point, were winning the game and he stuck up for his son's team, and the Magic fans that were involved didn't appreciate it," Bigney said.

Daniels bailed Buie out of jail on Tuesday night.

Orlando police declined to provide an on-camera interview or further explanation of the incident, but in an e-mail, authorities said Buie was charged with resisting arrest with violence.

The police officer who used his Taser gun was identified as Brandon Tabaczynski. A departmental investigation is under way, but Tabaczynski remains on active duty.
