On the course!
This national campaign runs through Memorial Day, but troopers will target unrestrained motorists on Hoosier roadways through June 6.

You almost made it, Jack.

This law is ridiculous and yet another way the government is getting involved in things they shouldnt.

Personal choice/responsibility now < doing what the govt thinks is right. I can ride my Harley without a helmet in this state but cannot drive my Accord without a seatbelt. Smart.

Gov. Mark Parkinson sent a message to motorists to "buckle up" when he signed a bill amending the state's seat belt law last week

Taking effect Thursday, the primary seat belt bill will allow Kansas law enforcement officers to stop and ticket drivers and front-seat passengers who are not wearing safety belts even if the officers do not observe another violation.

Law enforcement will issue warnings for non-compliance until June 30, then will begin issuing fines.

"Across the board, it (the bill) makes it simple for everyone in law enforcement," Hays Assistant Police Chief Philip Hartsfield said. "The officer can stop the car for people not wearing seat belts in every position in the car, and tickets can be written for those in the back seat if you are stopped for something else."

"While I don't see that we will aggressively enforce the seat belt law," he said, "we will actively enforce it." :0corn

The only state left that has an exception to the seatbelt law is mine. Though I do, you do not have to wear a belt if you are in a truck in this fine state. The state legislature is about to cave on this as well. I think you are an idiot if you dont wear it, but this is just another way for big brother to get his money. Fuking repulsive.

I think it's a great law for those who are 18 and under. I don't care if adults wear them. I think they should, but I don't think it should be mandated. It absolutely should be a law for minors. I've worn one since I broke a windshield with my head back in the late 80s.

I'm not referring to buses. They've done studies about seat belts being more harmful in buses. That's why they don't have them.
Yeah I always have heard that. Who's "they"? Know what I mean?

I have an airbag and am fine w/o the seat belt.

Been driving for 39 years w/o a seat belt

I think it's a good idea to wear one. I've taken care of too many people with life-altering problems from wrecks and no seat belts. Cliche, but seat belts do save lives.

I am not a fan of our individual freedoms being taken away. That said, Jack I would wear mine regardless of law or no law,...escpecially if I had an airbag (SIR= supplemental inflatable restraint) the bag deploys with you in the wrong position and bad things can/may or may not happen.

Are you aware of the pretensioner system many seat belts have ??

Even without the law and without an SIR, (airbag) I still wear it. I have been in two bad collisions, (neither were my fault) one I had seat belt one thank goodness, the other was 1968 IH Loadstar 1600 farm truck, not sure if it had seat belts, if it did they were under the seat, I know the effects I would rather have and it is not the no belt route.

Now if this sounds like a lecture or offensive don't get all wound up, I am just giving you some insight from a car guy.

I listen to Old School on lawn care, he has the experience, I have talked to many folks after they wrecked about the experiences they had, after all they often end up at a dealer's body shop, if the car did not total and they didn't get killed in the accident.

:)
