It wouldn't really surprise me that much...no athletic scandal really does these days but man...I guess I never thought Charlie Hustle would rock a corked bat.

I just read about this on Deadspin and I really dont like that the bat has circulated to a handful of collectors. It seems suspicious to me but that picture sure does speak volumes

If he was the home run king or in the top 5 of that category, I might have a different opinion, but I just don't give a crap.

Normally I'm pretty uptight when it comes to these things, but I kind of find myself in the same boat. I think for me it's mostly because I just don't think very highly of him and automatically assume the worst, so this doesn't surprise me. And as much as I dislike him, I do think he would have had a great career no matter what.

As an aside, ever since this story broke there are a lot of 'experts' coming out saying that cork doesn't really have much of an effect on distance. I don't know if that's true or not, but it definitely makes players THINK they have an edge.

What's wrong with that? Seriously? He places bets of different sizes on different games. He doesn't bet on his team in certain games. Do you honestly think a man addicted to betting on baseball games with his own team - which he knew was against the rules - would manage every situation the same way? With his own money riding on the outcome? And, you think his bookie(s) can't make bank on how Pete is betting on his own teams games? And Pete probably never benefitted from any of that inside information, based on his betting behavior? And, you could actually believe a word this person who knowingly lied to protect his image for years would tell the truth about something so laughable to begin with?

What's wrong with that? Seriously?

The guy came to Philly and took a bunch of guys who didn't know how to win, put them on his back, and then showed them how to win. He gets a pass in Philly. :0008
