Cop Punches Girl

Based solely on the footage shown, I would side with the cop. But we have no clue what transpired prior to the video.

I don't see how anyone could blast this cop based on this short clip. he was being attacked by two people.

This opinion, once again, is based on the assumption that the cop was doing his job properly prior to the video starting.

This assumption could be way off base.

There are bad and stupid people in the world. Punching them in the face is not the answer. So just when is it okay for a cop to punch a bitch in the face? Wait till your daughter or wife gets into it with the cop. Once you have cops punching everyone in the face when they are too lazy to do their job its all over.

I don?t see why people love cops so much? Most of them are just assholes and I?m sure this guy is one too. He would have done a lot worse if everybody else wasn?t around.

These girls were kids; I think the oldest one was 17. I?m surprised he didn?t pull his weapon and threaten to shoot somebody.

But if you have never personally had a run in with cops that were jerks (their only reason to join the force is because they got picked on or beat-up in high school, so they want to impose their authority on others so they can prove to themselves that they aren?t pushovers anymore) you can?t understand how this type of thing is more common than you would think. jaywalking(or crossing at the wrong spot) in the wrong situation can be very dangerous....used to ride by a high school on my way to work in town....4 lanes each way...people riding 45-50 mph...

green light...and a block in front of the green light...didn`t matter...the kids would saunter across the street like they hadn`t a care in the world...making traffic literally come to stop while they took their good old time...

all it would take is someone on a cell phone or texting and you have the potential for a tragedy....

what`s sad is,the media will vilify the cop(like some of the yoyo`s in this thread),and the cop will probably be fired and these uncivilized bitches will be rewarded for their behavior....

one of the symptoms as to why this country is falling apart at the seams...

Unfortunately if he had tasered her, then people would be outraged because it was just "jaywalking." Its a no win situation just for the simple fact it is black vs. white. Would people look at this different if the cop had been black and punched her? Bottom line, both were wrong and there should be a better way to subdue her. In this case there is two people which makes it a little harder to put blame on the cop. I'm sure the girl will be compensated.

I think we can all agree that this probably wasn't how the officer was trained to deal with beligerent girls, but I don't know that I blame him. He's outnumbered and these chicks appear to be getting out of control.

I hope some of you in here are kidding. I'm guessing maybe not. I'll side with Terry Ray here.

I'm not a cop and have no one in law enforcement in my family. It's easy to pick on cops. But it's funny. I'm a couple of weeks away from 63 and have had more than my share of encounters with cops. I've never assaulted one or pushed or shoved a cop. And none of them have ever assaulted, pushed or shoved me either.

Being a cop is not an easy job. You basically spend your day dealing with aholes. It may tend to give you a rather negative outlook.

Should this guy maybe have handled the situation differently - probably. But I have a strong feeling that if any of us was in the spot, we wouldn't have just stood there. We probably would have thrown a better haymaker than that one though. It looks like about half way through the punch he realizes it was the wrong thing to do.

He shouldn't be throwing punches at a man or a woman, but he is basically in a fight, so hard to pass judgement on the cop as being bad guy for actions that occur in the heat of the moment.

IMO, some situation-specific tactical training is in order, but not a suspension.
