I will try to nutshell this.... If possible :shrug:
I come from an extremely Conservative Family, my fathers parents were Dems, mothers parents were Rebs. Mother's siblings Dems, one a Stevadore in Portland,Or. and all of her nieces and nephews are Dems. One nephew is a big time union rep in Portland, actually for the whole state. Two nieces, from her sister, who is a total whack job and no one knows where she is :shrug: :142smilie are total bohemians and very successful live in northern CA. Both we Dems, recently 5-8 years ago one switched parties after her money, large amounts were being taxed and taken away by Arnold and Sam. They were awarded XXXXX Million in a lawsuit after their restaraunt blew up and her husband and daughter were trapped inside, husband 3 hours, daughter 6 hours, who has permant brain damage and physical disabilities. I learned to cook at this restaurant when I was 13 and 18. My parents aren't bigots, neither are my cousins, my dad's hiring process is all about money, who can do the job the best? Who can benefit my company the best. He fires people the same way, if you aren't doing the job, he pulls the pin on you. SIx years ago I had a black kid working in the warehouse, 2 weeks later he TELLS ME, "I take Martin Luther King Day off" You do, do you ? We work that day. 2 weeks later he takes off to Atl, doesn't show up for work, no call, no show, I hear about this from his buddy, tuesday, same, weds, same, thursday, he finally calls and asks if he still has a job? "I ask him, what would you do Larry if someone did this to you?" "I would give them a break" Really, no call, no show for four days, and you still want your job, maybe. Then he starts spouting off discrimination bullshit, so I hang up. I start the paperwork. Later that day his mom shows up with some shit head discrimination lawyer, ironically our Corporate Attorney is there and is more than willing to put this fuck sticks dick in the dirt. It lasts about 15 mins. So, Larry is stuck in Atl and needs money to get home and wants me to next day air his check to him, I tell him after the cost of the UPS his check will be very small, he still won't have enough for a bus ticket. He tells me I can't do that. I have 22 year old kid telling me what I can and can't do :facepalm: , then he asks me to loan him 300 :mj07:, uh huh. When he finaly gets be into town to get his final check, he tries to start a fight with me, I'm not going to bite, but I have the video camera running as he is running his mouth. Two weeks later I had to fire his buddy, who got him the job because Armando was always sick on monday :shrug: , The Bud Flu ?
The 3 guys I hired 6 years ago are still with us and are very happy to not be out in the heat, bent over picking veggies or dealing with some asshole boss who doesn't treat them with dignity. They are in an air conditioned area, paid every two weeks, get vacations, get health insurance, they get noticed and a birthday cake, which is always a moral booster.
I know this went all over the place, but then, that's my dangerous mind :mj07: My parents have come around in the last few years and have leanings, no where near mine, but they are coming around to the Ron Paul Tea Party, The Original Modern Day Tea Party. :0074
