Right behind you
It does if that group of people is -the majority/we the people.

What part of that do you not understand--

Your lesson for today--
Part 1--why do they have elections
Part 2 --why vote if it don't count

Wrong, way, way wrong again doggie, as usual.

A majority in a state, any state, even in the entire country cannot pass laws which violate the Constitution.

Jesus, talking to you is like taking to an obstreperous three year old.

Please go to bed...and no cookies for you.

Why is it that the majority are a bunch of homophobic bigots?

A prop. vote in Ca has nothing to do with the US Constitution.

Fluffer,

you are doing nothing but pissing on a spark plug and intentionally try to start a fight.

You distort, lie, call names. I have seen this movie before. :0corn

The Constitution is not the will of some ginned-up bigots voting on prop 8. The will of one group of people does not rule. The Constitution rules.

Do you have a clue how the Constitution is amended? Not by a group of California homophobes.

Prop 8 violates the equal protection clause of the Constitution, and that is what the judge ruled. Which part of that don't you understand?
It's hilarious watching the same group of narrow-minded bigots demonize one group of people after another in thread after thread.

In one thread it's blacks, the next thread it's Mexicans, then it's Muslims, now it's Gays. It never fucking ends with these guys Duff.

They can't debate you rationally Duff because they're slaves to their bigotry and prejudices. It's entertaining watching them try though... :142smilie

If the shoe fits...

Just messin with ya Lumi. No, I don't consider you a bigot at all Lumi. I don't like to use the word racist but yes there are a handful of bigots that frequent this political forum and most of us know who they are. It's no big deal. Being a bigot in this country doesn't even place one outside the social norm. I mean the Republican Party itself practices a very pervasive form of bigotry. They don't even try to mask it. In fact, they embrace it.

Don't you mean ....

If the froo shits ?

Long story, long joke, "The Legend of the Froo Bird"

I will try to nutshell this.... If possible

I come from an extremely Conservative Family, my fathers parents were Dems, mothers parents were Rebs. Mother's siblings Dems, one a Stevadore in Portland,Or. and all of her nieces and nephews are Dems. One nephew is a big time union rep in Portland, actually for the whole state. Two nieces, from her sister, who is a total whack job and no one knows where she is  :142smilie are total bohemians and very successful live in northern CA. Both we Dems, recently 5-8 years ago one switched parties after her money, large amounts were being taxed and taken away by Arnold and Sam. They were awarded XXXXX Million in a lawsuit after their restaraunt blew up and her husband and daughter were trapped inside, husband 3 hours, daughter 6 hours, who has permant brain damage and physical disabilities. I learned to cook at this restaurant when I was 13 and 18. My parents aren't bigots, neither are my cousins, my dad's hiring process is all about money, who can do the job the best? Who can benefit my company the best. He fires people the same way, if you aren't doing the job, he pulls the pin on you. SIx years ago I had a black kid working in the warehouse, 2 weeks later he TELLS ME, "I take Martin Luther King Day off" You do, do you ? We work that day. 2 weeks later he takes off to Atl, doesn't show up for work, no call, no show, I hear about this from his buddy, tuesday, same, weds, same, thursday, he finally calls and asks if he still has a job? "I ask him, what would you do Larry if someone did this to you?" "I would give them a break" Really, no call, no show for four days, and you still want your job, maybe. Then he starts spouting off discrimination bullshit, so I hang up. I start the paperwork. Later that day his mom shows up with some shit head discrimination lawyer, ironically our Corporate Attorney is there and is more than willing to put this fuck sticks dick in the dirt. It lasts about 15 mins. So, Larry is stuck in Atl and needs money to get home and wants me to next day air his check to him, I tell him after the cost of the UPS his check will be very small, he still won't have enough for a bus ticket. He tells me I can't do that. I have 22 year old kid telling me what I can and can't do  , then he asks me to loan him 300 :mj07:, uh huh. When he finaly gets be into town to get his final check, he tries to start a fight with me, I'm not going to bite, but I have the video camera running as he is running his mouth. Two weeks later I had to fire his buddy, who got him the job because Armando was always sick on monday  , The Bud Flu ?
The 3 guys I hired 6 years ago are still with us and are very happy to not be out in the heat, bent over picking veggies or dealing with some asshole boss who doesn't treat them with dignity. They are in an air conditioned area, paid every two weeks, get vacations, get health insurance, they get noticed and a birthday cake, which is always a moral booster.

I know this went all over the place, but then, that's my dangerous mind :mj07: My parents have come around in the last few years and have leanings, no where near mine, but they are coming around to the Ron Paul Tea Party, The Original Modern Day Tea Party. :0074

Instead of going back and forth about if this ruling is right or wrong, everyone is still missing the big picture.

Can we allow activist courts and judges to overturn the will of the people? It doesn't matter what you believe is right on the issue here. What will these courts do next? Because the next step for Prop 8 is the Supreme Court, are you going to be able to accept a different ruling than that of the 9th District? This thing is far from over.

Bingo! Same thing happened with Prop 187 in California.

I can't wait to get married. Unfortunately, then I will have to molest some children and ruin this country.

I wish the two could be separated  but they can't

You are correct, it can't be seperated, but you are more rational than others on this board ImFeklhr, I believe you do see the dangerous precedent the Court has set. I believe in equal rights for everyone except convicts. Right to speak, marry, carry, vote....., obviously the last 2 a Con cannot do, and it shall remain.

Congrats on your future nuptials, Up in SF or down here? :toast:

It was hypothetical. I'm going out of my way to make sure my partner doesn't know about the ruiling this week. Disconnected the internet, burned newspapers etc.

Marriage is the last thing I need this week.

Maybe someone addressed this in this thread - I admit most of the time I have to speed check a lot of the posts from time to time - and if so, I apologize.

Is it the position of some here that no matter what the issue that is voted on by a majority is, it should be the law of the state? Without further interpretation, possible further rulings by a court or a judge, at any time?

For instance, if your state decided that white male landowners were not allowed to vote any more, and the vote passed by a majority (I know this concerns some these days, with the whole "illegal alien" thing), it should never be revisited again, by any judge or court?

Or, say, the state of Indiana decided that citizens should no longer be allowed to have a gun in their home, as a safety issue for children, by a majority vote, that it should be the law, and not open to constitutional review by a judiciary entity?

Or is it just the gay thing that gets to you guys?

For the life of me, I can't see how two men or two women getting married has any bearing on any of your lives, unless one of them might have formerly been your wife or something. Which, is entirely possible, now that I think about it...

Chad,
I could see having another vote on a ballot, but to have someone void a ballot question seems dictatorial .As far as the gay rights issue I'm one that believes it's morally wrong.

Its not a hate issue at all as were all human beings .We weren't born to share the same sex.If you believe in GOD and his teachings homosexuality is just wrong.I know you and others won't agree.

I also know others are against it for different reasons. That's my take.

Do you think homosexuality is a trait that you are born with, choose, or learn?

This is not about god. Get that through your head. God has nothing to do with our laws. Just because you believe in some fantasy, don't subject the rest of us to it as an excuse for you to hate.
