Question about Sport Coats

So I picked up a sport coat for a casual wedding I'll be attending, when I say casual I wouldn't be surprised if there are more guys not wearing a tie to guys wearing a tie or suit. I wanted to wear a jacket but didn't feel like buying a suit. When I told my gf she wasn't to hip to the idea.

So here's my question, are sport coats getting phased out? Does anyone still wear them? I think they look good, maybe I'm nuts

you are not nuts..

play the coat of a white long-sleeve shirt w/med. starch[you can roll the sleeves over once when ya get the coat off about 3 or 4 dances into the affair]...match the pants and wrap it all up the tie that say check me out too..

and make damn sure you do not wear brown friggin' shoes with black slacks..or vice versa..

plus....find a girlfriend who knows how to move the train...

she should have told ya the sports coat was a good idea......BUT...that she would rather take ya downtown and buy ya tailored suit that you can dress-up or dress-down to suit the occassion..

find that broad and your days of being concerned about the attire for this or any occassion is history..

It's a tough question without knowing more details. Hell, some weddings it's appropriate to wear swimwear

I've been to weddings wearing a suit and some wearing jeans and tee.

I don't watch TV :SIB

It's nice having you back here posting sensible things :0074

Key word is casual. So you aren't really going to extremes and should be fine.

Proper etiquette for a non casual wedding? Probably not, seeing as you are a guest of hers.

You need a good suit. They are inexpensive and come in handy for celebratory events, job interviews, etc.. Try Joseph A Banks

I'm sure your girlfriend wants to see her man in a suit. Most women do.

Things to have:

A nice pair of black dress shoes with a matching black dress belt.
A black or blue two button suit Three buttons are somewhat dated.
A couple pressed white shirts. Dry cleaning is a buck.
A couple nice ties. (Don't pay retail price. You can great ties anywhere.)

And don't forget every man needs a nice pair of black dress slacks for those important golf games

Suit with no tie. You can never go wrong with a suit. If you feel too dressed up then you take the jacket off and that will be casual but still looking nice. Get a navy blue suit, you can use it for business, dressing really nice or dressed down for an affair like this.

I have sport coats for 'smart casual' outings, but wear a suit with tie to weddings. Casual wedding..... I would go with suit without a tie.

Woodson and others gave good advice....

If they don't like it, they can throw me out. At least *I* will be comfortable :0074
