Sources said starting defensive tackle Marvin Austin, starting defensive end Robert Quinn and starting linebacker Bruce Carter were among the players who were relegated to the scout team.

Looks like up to 7 defensive starters will be off the team!!!!!!

A source has also told CBSSports.com that two players, cornerbacks Charles Brown and Kendrick Burney, have already been kicked off of the football team.

At this time, we cannot confirm whether or not those dismissals will be announced during Thursday night's press conference.

Additionally, the same source told CBSSports.com that "four players have been cleared and the rest are toast" -- meaning four of the defensive starters on Carolina's team.

Erin Summers of WRAL in Raleigh also reported that "it's all but four players on the starting defense who are involved in the academic infractions."

The information from our source falls right in line with the -- as yet unconfirmed -- reports that the majority of the defensive starters were removed from the first team reps during Carolina's closed practice, and that Chancellor Holden Thorp addressed the football team on the field earlier.

Not saying he didn't know because I find it hard to believe that someone on the staff didn't catch wind. But Butch is smart enough to not let something get this big. There's no way for coaches to check every single piece of schoolwork these kids hand in. I'm sure it was on the D-L b/w the players. I'm sure if Butch knew he would have just told his nanny to give the whole D-Line blowjobs vs writing their papers.

Word is pretty much our entire D will be out which was the strength of the team. The offense struggled most of last year. Pinnacle still has line up I believe but I can't see LSU not covering with pretty much every one of our studs out.
