why the fuck do businesses hire people that can't speak english to handle their telephone calls. holy shit, this is annoying.

The other day I needed tech support from Dell. Guess where I was transferred to for talking to a tech?

And I couldn't understand a word he said and he hung up on me. :facepalm:

Of course! What was *I* thinking that a company would actually care about their customer service :mj07: :mj07:

I worked for an RBOC who basically broke the union with threats of moving customer service overseas. The reps went from $22/hr plus large bonuses to around $10/hr or so. As you can guess you can't get an answer if you call anymore. Another reason I never phone any customer service center if avoidable.

jack,my buddy...this isn`t exclusive to dell....i bought another tracfone because one of the keys zapped out on me....

i tried to get customer service to help me convert the minutes from the old phone to the new one(couldn`t get the zero key to work).......

well,i got someone who couldn`t even remotely speak english....the tipping point was probably the 8th time i screamed"the zero phone key won`t work !!!"...i was on the phone for at least 2 and a half hours.....

i think i started a thread on it....

if i had had their location,i would have had my buddy illuminati take `em out..."Apache I to ground:

I have to agree and it almost always is India that I end up talking to .

This has been my approach recently

As soon as I cannot understand something they say the first time.

I start talking to them in english very fast and very lengthy explaining just what it is I am wanting. I hardly take a breath for five minutes.

This totally confuses them and they cannot understand me.

I love when that happens.

The other solution is this.

Please let me talk to a Supervisor.

They are almost always understandable.

had the same problem with Dell....got so pissed that I was screaming on the phone to put someone on the phone that speaks ENGLISH!!! Finally got a supervisor on the phone and fixed the problem.

And funny thing is, there are two Dell plants right down the road from me but you think those are customer service centers:shrug: INDIA :moon:

Very true! Apple has only call centers in the US (Sacramento and Austin).

Any other laptop maker you run the risk of talking to India.

Consumer Reports shows Apple's customer service rating so high vs others, there really is no other manufacturer who comes close. Apple did consider a call center in Bangalore, but recently pulled the plug on it at last minute.

And, yes, critics has slammed call centers, and the necessary training in American English, for "de-Indianizing" the people and causing hurt by fostering an "identity crisis" in employees:
