I can't believe Obama really appointed her. I will give him a thumbs up for this.

Obama bypasses confirmation for consumer watchdog Warren, but no questions please

President Obama today made official his decision to name Harvard's Elizabeth Warren as a special advisor to the Treasury Secretary to stand up the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, rather than nominate Warren as the bureau's director, which would set up a Senate confirmation fight she probably couldn't win. Many liberal/progressive love her; corporations generally don't and the Senate is divided. The bureau was Warren's idea.
She won't need confirmation for the advisory role to which Obama has named her.
Part of Warren's responsibilities will be to advise Obama on whom to nominate as director.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs won't say if this means Warren definitely won't be considered to be that nominee when the time comes, though it seemed unlikely. "She's not the director," he said. "She is focused on setting this up. . . there will be a director. . . Elizabeth Warren is an adviesr to the Secretary of the Treasury . . . there's no circumvention of the law."

Obama didn't take any questions about the politics of his decision - and ignored a shouted one - during his announcement this afternoon in the Rose Garden. Nor did Warren speak.

The president, a Harvard Law alum, did say he'd known Warren since law school. He described her as an Oklahoma native and "a janitor's daughter who has become one of the country's fiercest advocates for the middle class."

Good. It's about time he realized that he is President and can accomplish things without having to wage war with the party of no.

This is a good move for middle class folks. The right-wingers who carry water for the bankers can sit in the corner and whine. LOL!

I'm really surprised this happened. We'll see just how much power she is given. I don't really have too much faith in our government at all. We'll see what happens.

.............................................................

If I must speak the truth , I hate politics

I want things to be good for the American people

but I aint taking no extra time other than to vote for people I think can make a differance

If you watched that ODonnel lady running for Senate. She runs her mouth without saying anything. That was 10 years ago and I guarantee you that witch aint changed none.

How can that be for the best ?

I think she will lose in the final horse race. God willing
