elway had the least of anybody....ever....until terrell davis showed up and he won 2 in a row

but to get that crap team he has for 10 years prior to 3 super bowls was amazing

i dont think he had 1 hof player on the roster with him the entire time.....and his wr were average and the rb's were worse

Can't believe with all the arguments over "BEST" QB's that people don't talk about the rule changes to protect them. Granted athletes are larger and better today, and one would be a fool to think otherwise. But how great would have Unitas been with being permitted to spike the ball, throw out of bounds when out of the pocket, receivers being more protected, etc. Same with Starr, Tark, Layne, Stabler, and some others. I'm just throwing that in. I'm not necessarily an "old" school guy.

Pretty sure spiking was around in Unitas's day.

About 75% sure spiking wasn't. I think I remember QB's firing the ball out of play to stop the clock, but I'll leave it to someone else to look it up. Hard to buy into greatest ever for Manning for me, anyways. He lost too many big games as a favorite for me to give him the title. I know he was the reason for Colt's being a favorite most the time, but he still has to WIN those games to satisfy me. Like comparing Carlton to Koufax or Spahn in baseball. Besides he's cost me a lot of money in games. FROM the shutout he put up in a playoff game years ago ( I had over) to last years Super Bowl when his interception cost me a "squares" board
