Stubhub is ticking me off right now...

This is (initially) freaking bullshit for me. I had original tickets through Stubhub, they just sent me an e-mail saying the Vikes game had been rescheduled to a new venue and that Ford Field will be accepting original tickets. "Unfortunately" no refunds will be given to original ticket holders. Fans traveling to freaking Detroit on a Monday night will be upgraded to the best seats there. Otherwise, all entrants are admitted free to the game there in Detroit (which I understand, BTW).

How in the world is this an acceptable business practice. The Vikings are issuing full refunds for those who can't/don't go to the game, but Stubhub just keeps all the frickin' money for those that use their business for tickets and offer a "Fan Guarantee" on tix?

Not happy about this at all. Sitting on $315 worth of firestarter right now.

Call a news station as quickly as possible. They want stories like this for today.

Do you have investigative reporters? The I-team or some shit?

Seriously.

Have you looked for the fine print, I would assume it has to be there. Regardless it is bullshit and I agree that trying to get the word out would have to be the best chance of getting anything accomplished. Sorry man, that blows.

We have Clark Howard. He'd mess Stubhub up in a second.

He's the second baddest dude behind Chuck Norris.

After looking at the site(ive never used it) it appears they simply act as middle man for people both buying and selling tickets. So technically they are only keeping the commision on the tickets and the seller got the vast majority of your money correct? If that is indeed how that works I am not sure if there is any way to resolve it:shrug: Screwed up situation for sure.

I agree, I might be screwed, and I can see your point, UGA. It's just aggravating. That probably protects them completely, and it's just a unique windfall for the original ticket holder. I wonder if I can just send the tix in to the Vikings and they would refund me? Probably not, but they are offering refunds, and if I just ask for face value? Hmm.

Wouldn't the seller to Stub Hub be the Vikings

I can see where StubHub is in an impossible situation.

I can also see where this is unfortunate for buyers. I don't even have a solution unless they could help reverse charges through banks?

No, it's an individual seller, probably season ticket holder selling through Stub-Hub. He probably has my cash right now.

How would they know where they came from? Surely you dont have to show proof of purchase directly from the vikes to get the refund. I would give this a shot!

Yes, they would need to be turned in. I just don't know what the policy would be expecting that they sold them to another person originally, and I'm trying to get the money back. They probably have every ticket accounted for with a reference/seat number, etc., for season ticket holders.

On the course!
You can bet each season ticket holder is going to get a refund in the mail.

So, if you sold your ticket to a Stubhub, etc, you now stand to make double bubble.

Sweet deal.

I can't imagine they would get the refund without returning the tix, but if so, you are correct, a very sweet deal.

Hard to believe a team that just had their roof collapse would want to further alienate any vikes fans. This is one of those things that seems like if you are willing to bitch a little the club will make it right. They may suprise you and quickly give you a refund if this kind of shit is covered by an insurance policy of some sort.

Do you think the front office wants the headache of that?

They sold season ticket holders the tickets, and season ticket holders will get the refunds.

They will not give two shits about a secondary market.

Maybe they don't, but maybe they don't want to issue blanket refunds without having tix produced by the recipient of the refund. Some tix probably would not be returned at all from original season tix holders, and they'd still have the headache of dealing with returned tix to check that out to turn down due to a previous refund. Produce tix, get a refund, seems a viable plan. Especially since some season tix holders probably CAN go to Detroit and use their tix, especially when they're upgraded to best possible seats there.

Seems to me, they'd refund tix as they were produced to avoid duplicate refunds or not having to refund tix money at all if not requested. Each set of tix is worth some pretty good money. Will be interesting to find out.

I'm not sure how the Vikings ticket department works, but the Packers allow their holders to sel their tickets through Ticketmaster.

You don't actually sell the ticket, just the right to the seat. The person who buys it, prints up a new ticket, with a new bar code. The bar code on the actual printed ticket is now void.

So for this instance, if I "sold" my ticket to Stubhub, I could still mail in the original and get my money back?

I think no matter how you slice this, it will be a headache for the Vikings.

It's just that IMO, people who purchased through secondary markets will be screwed.

I'm afraid I'll be screwed, too, as a secondary purchaser. However, I do have the original Vikings game tickets that were mailed to me, I did nothing on my own with a new printout, bar code, etc. The tix are exactly like tickets I've bought from the club itself, and the club said they would refund the original game tickets, which I do have.

I do understand that my initial issue with Stubhub was probably inappropriate, considering the process, but I don't know officially how they handle the issue before a game has actually been played.
