They're all over here and they suck!

Maybe their shakes are good, I never had one, but you can have the rest of it.

wasn't a big fan of steak n shake. went to one in indy suburbs. i had the banana milkshake and it looked like the color of a yellow now and later piece of candy. most banana milkshakes are white with a hint of yellow not bright yellow.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
what do they weigh?

what do they weigh?

Wife and I had a double here with shakes and fries and was still hungry
Saw the huge bill $15.00 and asked the waitress
"What does the patty weigh?"
I do not know she replied...

I said who does?

Manager comes over same question "What does a patty weigh?"

A SEVENTH of a pound...

Good GOD I said..

"A decent Braums (Dairy store with good products) kiddie burger is a Sixth of a pound"

" Yes, but ours has steak in it" was the reply..

I reply, " 1 part per million?"

HORRIBLY OVERPRICED

Steak n shake has good vanilla milkshakes and
french frys. Thats what i get to go sometimes.
The frys are thin and I ask for them crispy.

Everything else pretty much sucks and its too expensive like Jack said.

Oh and the service is chit also.

good shakes, crappy fries, average burgers, overpriced food. However, their breakfast with the bacon/sausage egg and cheese bagel and the silver dollar hashbrowns is probably the best fast food breakfast you can buy. I don't ever eat it, but I used to 35 pounds ago, and it's delicious.

Brand new place might be good for a bit and a worthwhile trip.

With all the places you have to eat out there, you're worried about this joint

Steak and Shake is the place you pass on, even when someone else says they are treating. It sucks. The fries are terrible and if you can't make good fries, what the hell can you make at a fast food joint?

Steak burger are definitely overpriced, you have to get a triple to get any meat.

Shakes are probly the best thing they have.

I also like the chili 5 ways they have, better than that crapola cincinnati chili.

I like the fries also, but to each his own.

I understand all the complaints, but I like the food. I'm not a fan of thick, greasy burgers, and from time to time I go when I'm back seeing the kids. I also like their Chili-Mac, a different kind of spaghetti meal. Sometimes the fries are good (to me) and sometimes not so good. Shakes are very good, IMO.

I would liken the burgers to a thinner version of Five Guys or Culvers, but would agree the food is pretty plain and it is expensive for what you get. I remember my dad's gas station was two doors down from a S&S, we used to eat there all the time when I was a kid. Probably why I like the place now, although not as much as Five Guys or some other burger places.

Would agree on Five Guys being awesome, but good lord, the amount of big, greasy fries is ridiculous - who can eat that many - and talk about expensive with an order of fries and a pop!
