ESPN fires Franklin for sexist comment

Great...now there is another spot open for another token female announcer who is impossible to listen to.

Franklin was very good on the games and I too hope he is picked up somewhere.

Meanwhile, I think ESPN is very sensitive right now as there is a book forthcoming about behind the scenes there that paints it as a sexist boys club headed by the lead sexist pig Chris Berman.

What a surprise...a bunch of guys who make a living off sports who have sexist viewpoints.

I think he would have been alright, until he called her ah asshole!

:142smilie

The dude is fom Mississippi! I don't know anyone from the south....male or female......who doesn't say baby, sweetie, honey, everytime they talk to someone.

Ever eat in a restaurant down there?

Hell, I call women hon, and darlin' all of the time. I don't think they find that offensive.

The fact that he was dressing her down was the offensive part, but she used another angle to hang his old suthern arse, since just getting put in place wasn't enough.

Cheap shit, but his own fault.

"When the conversation turned to the subject of Gilmore's wife Marie being elected mayor of Alameda, Calif., Edwards tried to join in but said she was shut down by Franklin."

Maybe Mr. Franklin did not want to hear anything from HER ABOUT HIS WIFE so he shut Her Down and she was OFFENDED:sadwave:
Been in many meetings where you Have to Shut People Down that are not Relevant to the Conversation yet they have to give their Opinion on Everything even when you are not Directing the conversation to them....
I believe this all Boils Down to her being HURT bcs Franky SHUT HER ASS DOWN in the Sense he didn't give a damn about her opinion of his Wifes doings...
Now we lose Quality play by play due to some Thin Skinned Useless Sideline "Reporter"

It wasn't his wife.

Thanks Z :

Anyway it all comes down to Thin Skin: People say things all the Time in Meetings and that's where it should stay :
If there is a problem with him then she should try and work it out between themselves before going to the extreme..
I know it was a Colleague who went Whining and that person is a Sally Snitch..
If she was so offended she should have went and fought her own battle..............

Still a Useless Sideline Reporter..They all are!!!

Totally agree. Useless. Can anyone actually stand to listen to a woman do football play-by-play? It's just not right, and I am NOT a sexist.

feminism run amuck....women fight to gain the access that male reporters have....on the field..even in the locker room....

and yet can`t handle being called"sweetie"?...

would he have been fired for calling a male reporter "asshole" at a meeting?....

it`s a whole new world,man !:00x24
